Radisson Blu Dubrovnik Sun Gardens

What is your Club Carlson status?
Concierge

Where did you stay? (Brand, Location, Country)
Radisson Blu, Dubrovnik Sun Gardens, Croatia

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay One of my best ever stays at a Radisson Blu.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard room, got a junior suite - my second best ever upgrade - 70m room with separate living room, two toilets, big bathroom, walk in dressing room, super king side bed, private balcony over the Adriatic.

Did you receive elite benefits?
Complimentary Room Upgrade - Yes. Welcomed as a concierge member from the outset.

Early Check In/Late Check Out I arrived about 1pm and room wasn't ready. I said I would have lunch and the receptionist said he would put people onto it straight away and would come and find me in the bar. It was ready 20 minutes later.

In-Room Welcome Gift - I got two! A letter of welcome, a 75c bottle of red Croatian wine a threefold plate of cranberries, cashews and almonds and a litre bottle of water. On Easter Day I came back to a wrapped chocolate rabbit in a wicker 'nest' with baby chocolate eggs and a wooden Croatian traditionally decorated egg.

How are the rooms?
Modern and big. A chaise sofa that could sit five, two other chairs and a nice workstation.

What was good and what was bad?
Good:Elite recognition, the facilities here are stunning

Bad:a very small point - the seats in the breakfast restaurant are quite uncomfortable

Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?. On a four for two deal and an upgrade to a junior suite this is fantastic good value. Croatia is so beautiful. I will come back as soon as I can next year.

Radisson Martinique on Broadway

Radisson Martinique on Broadway

- Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes, clean and central location. Annoying as they blocked award space had to call and speak to a manager citing 'no blackout' policy. They did open it up quickly though, not the case in Chicago...

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard room 2for1, upgraded to high floor business room.

- Did you receive elite benefits?
Early check in - n/a
Late check out - yes
Gift -chocolates
Breakfast - no

- How are the rooms?
Spacious room, bathroom nothing special. Partial view of some skyscrapers. Room had a connecting door to another room which made it a little noisier.

- What was good and what was bad?
Business lounge had apples and that was about it . Slow elevators. Location was great.

- Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
Yes, booked 2for1 with points, great value. Would return with 2for1 no doubt, but now... maybe not...

Radisson Aruba Resort, Casino & Spa

- Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes, clean and nice beaches. Room was a little tight and had connecting doors to next room which had some early risers that would play the TV too loud. Balcony was nice.

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard room (2for1)x2, upgraded(?) to high floor room, Balcony furniture seemed to be the main difference.

- Did you receive elite benefits?
Early check in - n/a
Late check out - yes
Gift -sippy cup
Breakfast - no

- How are the rooms?
View of ocean if near window/balcony, a little cramped for space.

- What was good and what was bad?
Clean, but loud due to connecting doors. Scene was a little more for the retired crowd, but gorgeous beaches nonetheless.

- Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
Yes, booked (2for1)x2 with points, good value. Would return I return? I'll read reviews about Aruba in 30 years then decide. (2for1 will be gone, and this property is being bought by Hilton)

art'otel budapest

- Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Hotel was very nice, located on the BUDA side of the river, a bit quieter but still nice restaurants around. Less convenient if your trying to walk everywhere.

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard room for 3 nights for about 65 euro/night (promo bonus). Ended up with river-view room with great views of parliament.

- Did you receive elite benefits?
Early check in - yes
Late check out - yes
Gift - Fruit plate
Breakfast - no

- How are the rooms?
View of parliament was amazing. Room itself rather small but recently updated.

- What was good and what was bad?
Location, both good and bad, quiet and near some sites while far from the main baths and the main restaurant areas and parks. Did use the metro and trams, which were good, but the time adds up.

- Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
Did get some promo bonus points here so it was great value. May return if paired with a few nights in PEST.

- Where did you stay?
Radisson Blu Beke Hotel, Budapest

- Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Hotel is a bit tired, the location is the main thing with this property and the low amount of points for booking.

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked a 2for1 business room for the breakfast and did not receive further upgrade. High floor but very dated.

- Did you receive elite benefits?
Early check in - yes
Late check out - n/a
Gift - Big bottle of water.
Breakfast - included due to business room.

- How are the rooms?
Old, rather small. Bed was fine though.

- What was good and what was bad?
Location is very good for walking around and even to the main baths. Could use updating.

- Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
Outstanding value. Yes, BudaPEST is often a bargain even when 2for1 goes away.

Park Inn Danube, Bratislava

- Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
It was a case of getting what you pay for. Nothing special. Next time will check out the Blu, if there is a next time.

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked a 2for1 business room for the breakfast and did not receive further upgrade. Room was small and had dark coloring.

- Did you receive elite benefits?
Early check in - n/a
Late check out - n/a
Gift - no
Breakfast - included with room (perhaps included for whole hotel?)

- How are the rooms?
Rather small. Basic.

- What was good and what was bad?
Location is good for walking around to see the city and castle, but the hotel was very basic and nothing to really write home about.

- Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
2 nights and breakfast for 2 people for 13.5k carlson points? Very cheap, but if I had paid cash, a small premium to the Blu looks like it would have been a no brainer. If the price were not 2for1 would have not used points to stay here.

Happy with the stay. Very clean hotel and great location for walking most places.

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked a standard (2for1)x2 room for the and did not receive an upgrade.

- Did you receive elite benefits?
Early check in - n/a

- How are the rooms?
Recently redone, rather nice with a small balcony.

- What was good and what was bad?
Location is good for walking around to see the city and museums, the hotel is nice but very small, did not see anyone at the bar or restaurant the entire stay. Very active area as far as cafes and such.

- Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
With the 2for1 was a good value. Without that it won't be. I would return but this hotel probably will need to drop a category or two as the cash rate is very cheap sometimes for a cat 6 hotel.

Park Plaza Histria Pula

Park Plaza Histria Pula

- Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Very happy with the stay. Very clean hotel, strange there are now ~5 park plazas within a few miles of here. I believe it is really just 2 separate "campuses", of which each have separate park plazas catering to specific clientele.

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked a standard (2for1)x3 room for the and did receive an upgrade to an annex building with great views of the small harbor.

- Did you receive elite benefits?
Early check in - yes
Late check out - yes
Gift - Fruit plate
Breakfast - yes ( I believe all guests get this, many guests had dinner included too and seemed to be on an all inclusive charter type thing). Food on site and nearby was very very cheap (plus got the 15% discount on site).

- How are the rooms?
Recently redone, rather nice with a medium sized balcony.

- What was good and what was bad?
The pool decks were crowded and if you do not get there early you won't get a chair. Be careful if going in the sea barefoot, might step on a sea creature... The place was too far from town to walk but taxis were available and cheap. Also if you walk west ~15 min there is a restaurant that will provide you with a nice sunset view.

- Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
With the 2for1 was a very good value. The nightly rate was over 200 euro per night so 132k points at 1200euros worked out to be over 1.1cpp usd. This was semi last minute and we had intended to hotel hop a bit until more space opened up while we were already here. The other properties look nice as well. Took a ferry from venice both ways.

Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, DFW Airport South, TX

- Where did you stay?
Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, DFW Airport South, TX

- Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Pleased, not a destination hotel, but served its purpose well.

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked a standard (2for1) room for the and did get a high floor.

- Did you receive elite benefits?
Early check in - n/a
Late check out - yes
Gift - no
Breakfast - yes (All guests get this)

- How are the rooms?
Old. Nothing great. Basic.

- What was good and what was bad?
Was in for an event in arlington, a last minute trip where everything nearby was completely sold out and even this hotel was marked over $100/night, so snagging 2 nights for 15k was great. The shuttle from/to DFW was prompt both times. Took ubers around which worked out well, just Dallas is very spread out so it seems to take forever to get places.

- Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
Great last minute value for 2for1 with 15k points. If I went to another last minute event in Arlington I would consider this property as roads and traffic in Arlington were closed/gridlock for hours before and after the event, so being dropped off nearby was a plus. DFW shuttle was an added bonus, as its still 10-15 min from DFW. Staff was friendly.

Radisson Blu Dakar

What is your Club Carlson status?
Gold

Where did you stay? (Brand, Location, Country)
Radisson Blu, Dakar

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay Yes mostly.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked one standard room, and one Business Class room for two separate stays. First time Business class was upgraded (with some nudging) to suite and standard Garden view to Ocean view. Second time no upgrade on Business class room but double-upgrade on standard room to Business class, so free breakfasts (a big deal in a hotel where they charge $25 for breakfast!)

Did you receive elite benefits?
Complimentary Room Upgrade - Yes. Also fruit and nuts in room upon arrival first time but nothing when we checked back in a few days later.

Early Check In/Late Check Out Very early (7 a.m.) checkin on arrival and very late (8 p.m.) on departure to accommodate plane schedule- but then they tried to charge me a $50 late checkout fee on departure. Was not revealed to me on checkin and they agreed to remove it.

How are the rooms?
Suites are great and even standard business class rooms are pretty good- though some are better than others so try to get one with a separate shower and tub.

What was good and what was bad?
Good:Free nights (via CC card and 2 for 1 rates) and upgrades and perks. Good concierge. Bad, if it matters to you: Hotel is really not very African at all. Bad: Cheesy muzak by pool, wouldn't let us borrow pool towels for the beach or even get extra room towels from the housekeeping manager (so we had to help ourselves to a cart parked in the hallway!), bad Internet, overpriced food and standard rates, inflated taxi prices if you let them call you one

Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return? Only if I got a deal (and wanted to go back to Senegal) and now that CC Visa free nights are going away I am seriously phasing out my CC points. Just not enough hotels in the places I go
