What is your Club Carlson status?
Gold

Where did you stay? (Brand, Location, Country)
Park Inn, Malmö, Sweden

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
not really

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard room, received standard, hotel wasn't full and had business rooms available but just didn't feel the need to do anything for me

Did you receive elite benefits?
none besides the restaurant discount, but needed to work hard to get the 15% discount

How are the rooms?
fairly new property (I guess around 2011), standard sized rooms, perhaps it bit larger than usual in Scnadinavia. Good bed, comfortable linen and a fresh modern bathroom. Rooms are supposed t be air conditioned but the AC wasn't working even though it was a damn hot day. Had to sleep with window open and suffer from a very bright room as the curtain doesn't close with window open and loud noisy birds... (damn, those seagulls are up early!)

What was good and what was bad?
Good:
Great location, perfect for stroll in the evening through the hip Västra Hamnen area and the shoreline with perfect view on the Öresund bridge during sunset. Restaurant had not too many choices but the meal was quite good and for Sweden the prices very moderate.

Bad:
No elite benefits, hot room and air conditioning disabled, front desk said nothing they can do about it... miserable night with bad sleep

Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
Rate was okay with around SEK 1100, anyway, next time I spend 20€ more for the Radisson Blu I guess. I hate hotels which disable the AC! Will not return!

Meah

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard king bed room got a suite

Did you receive elite benefits?
Yes, choice of 3 items, one local goodie bag, choose two items from pantry or points, I took points. Suite Upgrade, free internet, and free breakfast vouchers (full buffet).

How are the rooms?
Dated, very dated, run down, barely holding on, but Radisson has updated a little. At least it was comfortable and clean.

Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
This is not a tourist hotel, I was here for business. The hotel was independent for a while, was run down, then Radisson bought a year ago and started updating, new carpet, paint, etc. I was told they will do some major remodeling soon. But as of now, run down, outdated. I stayed here for business and convenience.

BUT, the staff was very friendly and they were trained very well with Radisson program, a lot better than other "fancier" Radissons, also great elite treatment.

Radisson Fallsview, Niagara Falls, ONT

What is your Club Carlson status?
CONCIERGE

Where did you stay? (Brand, Location, Country)
Radisson Fallsview, Niagara Falls, ONT

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard king bed room got an upgrade to high floor 11, and fallsview. Although there is a building blocking half the view, the other half is pretty amazing. Just a handful of hotels offer unobstructed views and those rooms are pricey.

Did you receive elite benefits?
Yes, waived valet ($20), I guess that was my welcome amenity. Free full breakfast at Tony Romas (avoid). Upgrade high floor, fallsview.

How are the rooms?
Satisfactory. All worked. View of Friday Fireworks, and nighttime light show,

Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
Yes, decent value, not huge. 38K, cash it was $300CAD after taxes., I would rather burn points than spend $.

The valet and front staff was great. The hotel's restaurant is Tony Roma's which was bad, bad service, poor quality food, Avoid. Breakfast buffet was poor, skip it, go to the casino or starbucks.

Overall, Niagara Falls is fantastic, and the Radisson did the job. I would return. I was amazed during the week, hotels have outrageous deals. Last time I stayed at the Hilton, was better overall, but now it costs twice as much in points.

Smile Radisson Blu, Berlin

What is your Club Carlson status?
Gold

Where did you stay? (Brand, Location, Country)
Radisson Blu, Berlin, Germany

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Very good stay

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked a standard room on points (2 for 1 on the CC bonus, now terminated) Did 2 nights on mine, 2 on wife and 2 again on mine. At check in we were given a corner Junior suite (overlooking the Radio tower/Square)
Was allowed to stay in this room for the 6 nights due to good PR skills and many thanks to the staff and a little 20 euro tip!!

Did you receive elite benefits?
Yes, was given the first two nights the breakfast buffet, last 4 they weren't given but I didn't push for asking as it is the same everyday. Ate next door at a sandwich shop (better). Also received on each 2 night stay a welcome gift of water and cookies, water and chocolates and water and snack of olives and cheese. Didn't even ask for them.

How are the rooms?
Junior suite was great. Nice king bed, windows all around, sitting area was nice and the other room was with a couch, chair and table as well as wet bar. Very comfortable bed and windows were soundproofed.

What was good and what was bad?
Everything was good, The giant fish tank in the middle of the hotel is awesome to look at. The area is next to everything and easy to public transport. You can't go wrong here. The staff are outstanding and they take care of their elite members. A plus in Germany as sometimes this is hard to come by.

Bad: Can't complain about anything.

Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
Yes, when they had the CC free night on the last night. But still a good value Euro/$ and I would return in a heartbeat to this property.

Where did you stay? (Brand, Location, Country)
Park Inn by Radisson, Dresden, Germany

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Overall good stay (see comments below)

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked a standard room on points (2 for 1 on the CC bonus, now terminated) Did 2 nights on mine, and 2 again on my sons 1x1. At check in we were given an upgrade to a "green room", went to look at room and it was barren, just a bed and desk, nothing else. Went back to front desk asked what else do they got, we were told for 25 euros $27.00) we would get a superior room with free mini bar (value around 30 euros per day), fruit basket (loaded with fruit), higher speed internet (worked great) 10 euro higher a day, and 2 free drink coupons for beer or wine (9 euro value) for each day. Jumped on this in a heartbeat. 49 euro value for 25 and we were on award stays, no problem.

Did you receive elite benefits?
Yes and no, see above. Paid for a better upgrade, received 2 bottles of water on first day.

How are the rooms?
Superior room was way better than the upgrade to green room. The 25 euro cost was well worth it for what you received. We used the mini bar daily and it was replenished daily with 2 beers, 2 wines, 2 soft drinks, 2 juices, 2 candy bars and nuts and crackers. Bed was comfortable and the top floor was the best location overlooking the quiet street.

What was good and what was bad?
Good: The room and bed were nice. The area was very close to public transport around 50 feet. Staff were good.

Bad: Can't complain about anything.

Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
Yes, when they had the CC free night on the last night. But still a good value Euro/$ and I would return and get the paid upgrade again.

Are you following me? I also stayed here recently, followed by Niagara Falls. I'm gold. I stayed on points, and as a 9000 pt/night cat. 1, I have to think this is a pretty good bargain, point-wise. And they seem to treat golds nicely. The points amenity was 2000 points so if you take that, it makes the stay only 7000 points. Also upgraded to suite as gold, which was nice. The exterior is definitely old looking, but our room was nice enough, and clean. Better than I expected from tripadvisor ratings. I agree about the staff being friendly. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Very good stay

Did you receive elite benefits?
Yes, since I booked the Business class room the super buffet was included. Received a welcome gift of waters and some fruit.

How are the rooms?
Suite was very large. The main room had a desk, couch, chair, tv and mini bar (not included). The bedroom was even larger with a king bed, very comfortable and a table with chairs and a couch. Overlooked the main street but noise was limited as we were on the 3rd floor. Rooms were a little outdated but it wasn't that bad. The bathroom was nice too.

What was good and what was bad?
Everything was good, Like I said it could use an update but nothing bad on the stay. Close to local transport and many food places nearby. The Turkish restaurant down the street was very good and cheap.

Bad: Can't complain about anything.

Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
Yes, this place is nice away from the river and tourist areas.

Radisson Blu Plaza, Oslo

Gold

Where did you stay? (Brand, Location, Country)
Radisson Blu Plaza, Oslo

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes, was very nice

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard, received business class high up the tower

Did you receive elite benefits?
Business class upgrade.
The nicest fruit plate I ever saw in a hotel as free welcome gift. Melons, pineapple, grapefruit, currants, physalis, strawberries, ... all well cut, arranged and finished with white chocloade chips. Very impressed and made me nipple fruit all night (while I usually do not eat the fruits in the hotel rooms, just the nice presentation made me WANT to eat them )

How are the rooms?
Modern, clean, AC was set fixed to 23°C which is way to warm for me for sleeping. Front Desk fixed it to 18°C during the time I was out for dinner

What was good and what was bad?
Good - Location is great, 5 minutes walk from Central station, really nice fruit plate - did I say that already? Good breakfast, nice staff, the maids even thought to close the shades in the room to not heat up that much over the day, they fixed the AC to the temp I wanted

Bad - During busy times long wait for the elevator even though they have 8? The key card reader in the elevators were a bit weird, needed to swipe my card multiple times to get it working. The concept to have to lock the room using the key card if you do not want to wait for the 1 minute timeout until the door locks automatically is weird. Could be very easy for someone to hide on the floor watching people leaving the room without locking the door and slip in before the timer expires. BAD implementation!

Value for money or Gold Points? Would you return?
Pricy for Oslo, but on company money and getting the company rate (about 50% discount) definitively beats the competition around the station in Oslo, will return.

Radisson Blu Aqua Chicago

- What is your Club Carlson status? Gold

- Where did you stay? (Brand, Location, Country)
Radisson Blu Aqua, Chicago, Illinois

- Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
I booked a standard level award room, received the same.

- Did you receive elite benefits?
I was able to receive a slightly early check-in (about a half hour before standard 3pm check-in), but they were also checking-in non status guests, so I don't think that was necessarily an elite benefit. I was given my choice of a low floor or high floor room. I also received two bottles of water (one sparkling, one still), and a tin of honey roasted peanuts, which were quite tasty.

- How are the rooms?
I would say they were good, but not great. Room was large for a standard room, clean, and well laid out in terms of lighting fixtures and power outlets. The blackout curtains worked well. Only complaint was that the room let in quite a bit of noise from both the hallway and the street outside.

- What was good and what was bad?
Service was friendly. Everything was ckean and seemed to work well. Location was excellent and close to everything. Only bad was the noise.

- Value for money or Gold Points?
I booked two nights before the recent devaluation, so 50k points for two nights was a great value. At 70k/night or $400/night (the sticker price for the nights I stayed), there is probably better value to be found at another property in Chicago.

Would you return? Gladly
