Untick the box on the matrix searched called "Only show flights and prices with available seats" and run it again. If it comes up with results, then it means that those fare buckets are not available on those flights.

If it doesn't specify an end date then it is just a regular advance purchase fare.

Sorry if this has been listed higher up, but seeing DUB>NYC/BOS on BA via LHR for £1,163 for July and August dates in CW.
Not like the deals we use to get, but can be brought under £1K for those who are Avios rich.

Just wondered if i could pick your brilliant brains to see if i can get a better deal to Australia in November, returning via Hong Kong to visit a friend for a few days. This is what i have priced up on Google Flights (its Ex-Eu):

9/11 ARN 0720 - LHR 0915 BA
LHR 1125 - HKG 0700+1 CATHAY
HKG 0840 - SYD 2045 CATHAY

20/11 SYD 1125 - HKG 1750 CATHAY

27/11 HKG 0100 - LHR 0620 CATHAY
LHR 1315 - ARN 1645 BA

Total in CE / Business £2,250ish

I'm assuming these flights will all earn me Tier points?

I'm flexible +/- 1 day on each flight if i can make a decent saving. Any ideas would be massively appreciated

Do you have to begin in ARN?

Yes you will earn TPs on all flights, a total of 640.

Allegedly it can be done for £100 ish less according to ITA Matrix. But it's a great price, especially with the one-week stopover, which really complicates things.

An evening departure ex-ARN would mean you didn't need a hotel the night before, though, which could be a consideration.

Nope - it was just the cheapest place I could find from the usual suspects!

I can make OSL work for a similar price on BA stock as well (still with the HKG stopover on the return).

Sorry - spent 1 hour trying to replicate this on both GF and Matrix. Any tips? Have tried restricting to I inventory and specific flights.

I found it took a lot of fiddling to get it to price on BA stock with BA metal, but if you're after CX it's more widely available. Here's some random dates I just plugged into Google Flights. Prices on XP as well.

Going via DUS from ARN is probably better on CX as you get the A350 rather than the 777 from LHR.

I wouldn't die in a ditch over it, but I don't think CX's A350 is a huge step forward over its 777s.

In addition, you get the CX lounge in LHR (particularly if you're an Emerald vs. the LH business lounge in DUS), a slim chance of an op-up to F on some flights, and if you're only flying as far as HKG, the chance to go to sleep in the evening and land at noon - better for jetlag, although flying to Australia it's going to hit you no matter what.

I'm going to have to disagree with you on that one. Simply for the reduced noise, better air quality and improved seat, I'd go for the A350. The IFE is also in a different league.

The A350 is the only aircraft in the CX fleet with wifi, if that's important.

Priced up at SEK24,547 = £2,151 booked on CX stock, call CX to book. Same routing through LHR.

9 Nov: 18:00 ARN-LHR BA781 22:05 LHR-HKG CX254 19:00+1 HKG-SYD CX111
20 Nov: 15:50 SYD-HKG CX100
27 Nov: 09:40 HKG-LHR CX257 18:20 LHR-ARN BA774

Will be £2,107 if you care to fly via DUS on airberlin. Can also mix and match e.g. via DUS outbound via LHR return (if you're planning to ditch last leg). Can save another few pounds if you travel 21st and 28th.

All flights will earn Tier Points, even if booked on CX stock. I am BA Gold with TPs earnt primarily on CX. Same earning via LHR or DUS.

ARN-LHR=40 TP
LHR-HKG=140 TP (just short of 6k miles...)
HKG-SYD=140 TP

640 TP for whole trip.

Do remember though that you get extra Avios on BA metal if you have one of the more shiny BAEC cards. This might be worth up to over 20K Avios extra on a trip like this. Does that cancel out the preference for the better CX cabin and service? That answer will vary between individuals.
