Praise for skyscanner - 4pax AMS-SIN-LHR £5.5k

I was looking for a good club deal to Singapore for December , tried the usual suspects via google flights and matrix, but in the end Skyscanner came up trumps with a routing on BA AMS LHR BKK SIN (last leg on CX) returning SIN-LHR direct. I could have saved £800 with a final flight to AMS, but this would have taken up a day of leave and I have 2 youngish kids in tow!

This is about as as cheap as any of the Qatar options but MUCH better flight timings and a direct flight home enabling me to go straight into work. Was able to book over the phone with BA in just a few minutes.

You could always book the flight back to AMS and accidentally miss it. Not condoning, just saying...

Or even better, book it as LGW-AMS and get slightly lost on your tight connection...

I need to visit Thailand & Korea in September. Often it's tricky to get double open-jaws to price out well. I found an interesting option for an open-jaw, outbound in J, back in W, via BA Holidays:

AMS-LHR-BKK (on BA) in J
PUS-NRT/NHD-LHR in Y/WT+
+first night in decent hotel in BKK

Total €1305 = £1107

Found this by searching for WT+ trips, but for some reason some ex-AMS flights price into J. I also tried a couple that routed via HK for a <24hr overnight on route & onward connection on CX in J, but repeatedly got all the way to the payment & got an error.

Anyone else decided to take the plunge with this one?
You did all this to get a GUF2? (As per post above)

Hat off. I have never seen the GUFs as that valuable

Lol, no, we did it because it will be a fun weekend, trying a couple of planes that we've never flown on, and just for the hell of it. The GUF is a bonus, but life is short, and doing stuff you find fun is worth doing!

Managed to book:

I love this - 640 tier points too!

Do you know similar routing out of a closer ex-eu country...?

Yes, and good for those who want to bump their TPs also. Mostly to the west coast - e.g. SFO/LAX.

Yep - quite a simple 560 TPs lie flat all the way.

There also appears to be no Sat night restriction. Don't imagine it will hang around long in its current form!

No transfer in LON (AA seem to be doing this more frequently!)

I have spotted ZRH-MAD-MIA-LAX-SFO-LAX-PHL-MAD-GVA

720 TPs - £1,181 - £1.64/TP

777 on the MIA-LAX leg also.

2 steps ahead

Have to go via MAD from ZRH (possibly GVA, but not checked connections) to get to MIA, since LON is not permitted.
