Your two posts are not very clear.

use the link provided to determine VS miles cost for award travel on DL.

use the DL website to find standard award inventory on DL flights.
if you find that too confusing, use the AF website instead.

call VS to book.

You may want to check availability with AC or UA website. ANA makes some award space available for their own members only.

You need to search in the AS (AlaskaAir) website. That's how I find DL availability and then call VS to book. You can also try the AF site.

Any idea why VS miles cannot be used to book a one-way ticket on DL, but the reverse is true? It is already so difficult to book DL awards and on top of that being unable to book one-ways is annoying. Is VS not even trying to ask for one-way awards in its negotiations with partners?

It's a legacy of the rules of DL SkyMiles at the time VS & DL became redemption partners. DL charged roundtrip award price for one-way awards rdeemed in its SkyMiles program at the time. I suspect that the proper executive in VS has never realized that rule needs revisiting.

Now with VX disappearing as a partner, wish VS would fight for one-way awards on DL at least.

DL JFK-DKR in J using VS miles: booked.

It took an hour on the phone to VS, but I was able to book two r/t DL tickets in J for JFK-DKR (Dakar, Senegal), 120k miles per person. Combined taxes for two pax were $240.

DL runs the recently modified 757-200-75S on the route, so I should get some good rest in the Delta One flat-beds.

I have no idea what the agent did, but...it appears I was charged 140k points for two first class round trip tickets, ATL-LHR and MUC-ATL on DL (using VA points.) I expected 200k total. Thoughts?

ATL-LHR round trip cost for coach is 40K, business is 90K
MUC-ATL round trip cost for coach is 60K, business is 100K

Your 2 tickets should have cost 190K.
Maybe your ATL-LHR is in coach :-)
