When I go to a restaurant I don't know, I always ask if they're serving Coke or Pepsi. If the latter, I drink water.

Thus, as a Coke-only drinker, it's a good thing I switched to water on all flights many months ago.

I'll agree that Pepsi has been out-marketing Coke for some time.

Truly bad news, especially now that the Frappachinos are no longer available. I guess it will be water for me too...maybe that was the plan all the way along. Reminds me of a "joke" a friend of mine used to tell. What's the best thing about diet Pepsi? Answer: no taste Penalty compared with regular Pepsi.

Just order a Cuba Libre... then you won't have to worry about asking for the wrong brown fizzy liquid ... (or better yet, get some Pisco on the plane and we can order Piscolas....)

Rum and Pepsi? Yeeeeech! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

Good thing that you can have Diet Coke as a carry-on (put it in your coat pockets!). *Sigh* Another BAD example made by UA in my mind http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif BTW, a few years ago they had a Diet Pepsi/Diet Coke taste test here sponsored by Pepsi - I won every time - I can DEFINITELY tell the difference! And, what would my morning be without my Diet Coke??

Basenji - not to worry, I would never have the FA think it's her/his problem - I just bring my own drink/food now a days - perhaps you should suggest the same to others when they have their "hissy" fit?! Hmm. . .perhaps United can save even more $$ by asking passengers when they purchase a ticket if they're going to require any food/beverage. If not, the passenger gets $10 off their ticket purchase. This could save them $$ on fuel costs (less food being boarded), less on customer problems (people who don't want it, know ahead of time). Hey - I think I'm onto something here. . .

I know, I can't even imagine. Only good thing is, I don't like rum and Coke either http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I always know I'm working a flight to/from Seattle by the massive Ginger Ale consumption. We inevitably run out....guess I'm representative of my locale.

Likewise, I always know I'm working a flight to/from Texas by the requests for Dr. Pepper.

And I know I'm working a flight to Orange County when every passenger wants three different beverages at the same time! But discussing Orange County passengers is an entire thread in and of itself...

Why not offer both products as some airlines do?

buterrier Mar 23, 2002 3:15 pm

This is really bad news - I am a Coke only drinker, and if the choice Pepsi, I too drink water or Ginger Ale. I hope United is going to stock up on water and Ginger Ale, or like the rest I will have to bring my own soda on the flight.

I agree with the others, why not offer both?

Does AA server Coke??

a330300 Mar 23, 2002 3:50 pm

I love Pepsi more than Coke, and their "Twist" products taste much better than Diet Coke with Lemon (which tastes like a moist towelette's smell if you ask me http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif)

FYI

7up is no longer owned by Pepsi. They are usually associated with Pepsi, since the independent distributors had to carry 7up when it was a Pepsi product. Also, I'm sure Pepsi will do a brand analysis for United and somehow I doubt Mt. Dew will be a reccomended product... but who knows http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif.

As long as they don't dump the cranberry juice, I'm happy... United should definitely bring back those frappucinos, though!
