Was there a response?

I'm also wondering if the one paragraph synopsis is all we're going to get from that event? I hope there will be more.

i hope everyone doesn't blow all their ammo on the CR1 battle. E+ going away and my seemingly plummeting UDU rate is FAR more concerning to me, and would drive me to change despite my fanfare for UA.

Well said, booch, there are bigger fights ahead of much more importance (of course, that is all relative, but IMHO, you are spot on).

There will no doubt be more fights ahead. Bigger? We don't know that yet. Are you suggesting we should have just sucked this up and bided our time?
In the long run the CR1 changes will be as stated just a few days ago, in the meantime we've bought some time to fill the coffers.
Each battle is important.

I just got the cookie cutter response as well. It's rather unfortunate as the tone seems very different than previous responses. I'm not a conspiracy theorist but the lack of personal response to the items I brought up as well as ignoring other comments causes me concern.
Hello C5Driver,
Were always glad to hear from 1K members like you. Thanks for writing.
I'm sorry you're disappointed with how Regional Upgrades will be earned beginning in 2011. Prior to making any changes to our program, we look at how it will impact all of our members.
Today, in order to earn two (2) Regional Upgrades, you first need to be a 1K member and then fly 10,000 flight miles on United in a quarter. In 2011, you will automatically earn two (2) Regional Upgrades as soon as you reach 75,000 EQM or 90 EQS, and will earn two more at every 25,000 EQM or 30 EQS thereafter with unlimited earning potential.
In addition, now all EQM/EQS you earn (not just flight miles on United), will count towards earning Regional Upgrades.
Thanks for contacting us with your feedback on the Mileage Plus program. We appreciate receiving customer comments, and regularly pass them along to our marketing department for inspiration. Your ideas and suggestions help us keep the program interesting and valuable.
We appreciate you taking the time to contact us.

This of course can be worked-around by simply removing your MP# from the record, after clearing any upgrades, and then retroactively claiming mileage credit, near the end of December or in early January.
It was nice to see the extension of the quarterly earning of CR-1's extended through 2011 although this was really the only reasonable thing that could be done given the poorly thought-out change with no regard to first-time qualifiers in 2010. Giving 12 months notice is much more reasonable.

Well, I didn't know where that link would point to, and a link to a private forum wouldn't work for those of us not deemed worthy to participate.
But this link is giving at least a bit more info (incl. the fact that "Jeff" didn't refer to the big cheese Jeff Smisek himself, as I had assumed)

The SWU issuance at time of qualification/requalification does not make sense. For us given some of the announced changes and for timing issues I can see us better managing our travel on UA creating stages so we reach to 1k requalification more towards December of each year. That would be in keeping with our current SWU expirations and rolling forward to keep a similar expiration schedule.
In regards to CR1s. What was wrong with the old system? There was no DEQM this year. There are going to be lots less people who would earn CR1s therefore using them. The routes we use them on are some of UAs hardest to get such as SFO to IAD and UA does not release that many upgrades to be had on the non-stops ahead of time anyways. But at least you get in line. The other would be to certain Mexico and Canada spots along with smaller aka 757 planes to Hawaii.
I have two close friends who will loose 1k status. One was hoping to make a run at 1k again in early 2011 using the last of their 6 SWUs but these changes have us both re-thinking the value of 1k. I have no doubt for my wife and I but those on the edge now question the value.
In terms of battles. That is not up to us in my opinion. We are not the ones throwing the first snowball. In the end we are the one$ with the buck$ and I have no problem reminding $omeone of that fact. $till lots of flying options out there. All will be well. 3m plus UA BIS miles for us bears this out over 2 plus decades.

At the very least, if they want to keep the riff-raff out, don't allow posts but they can at least make it viewable by all. What is the big secret that only the privileged few can know?

I'm really very happy about this change. Yes, it's not necessarily the end of the world if I can't get CR-1's, though I'd love to be able to use them for p.s. flights. It was the sudden "hey, thanks for your past business, but we no longer care about you" attitude I didn't like. It appears that we can make a difference when we all flood 1kvoice with our opinions.
One suggestion, folks, let's keep the big floods of complaints for the things that matter. If they get the same number of complaints because they try to take away the heated nuts or hot towels in F, they're going to stop listening to us!
I'm not sure I agree - I think 2011 is going to be swimming in CR-1's. Yes, there were no DEQM promos in 2009, but those 2009 promos created a lot of 2010 1K's, and they've been earning CR-1's all year, including this quarter. I think you're going to see a huge swell of CR-1's in use through Q3 of 2012, and maybe a lull, before that year's 1K's start earning them at 75k+.
