I think I said it once before, it is a lot easier to spell United than it is Continetnal

I've thought about that, then checked out Frontier's website. Do they even have a logo anymore? They have photos on their tails, so it seems to me that you can have these images on tails, but on the cocktail napkins, just have a globe or U...(I'm sure you can do both).

As I see it, the U will always be around because it is called United. (You cannot have it be called Continental with the United livery...it wouldn't make sense). You have to have the globe because it's a merger of "equals"... and "we" are the largest global airline.

One image was done by Anthony Airport, and the other image was done by Eric Smith? Both are very good in different ways. One comment I posted on Facebook: Save the Tulip:

http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pi...3&id=503257537

A few things: I like how the U and Globe go off to one side. I love how the top is dark blue, like when you are flying at 35,000 feet and look up, you see the dark blue above. The bottom part fades a bit...it's as if we see the haze from the clouds as we are flying above the globe. Interesting; I feel like jet setting - flying at 35,000 feet while looking at this. Major Thumbs up.

Anyway, everybody seems to like these images a lot!

It's called a wordmark. Fedex has one. Google has one. A brand can use type alone for their identity. I'm not saying that UA/CO should do that; Frontier does that and it's just fine.

However, I think it's an atrocious idea to think that combining the CO globe and UA tulip together looks good and would be a lasting brand. They just don't work together. Either pick the UA brand (name and logo) or the CO brand (name and logo), but mixing the two is not the way branding works.

People are free to play around with logos all they want, but posting unsolicited designs on the internet without trademark will insure that they are never used.

CO doesn't have any 732s in service. (Current 737 fleet includes the 735, 73G, 738, 739, and 739ER.)

Did you mean the 752? If so, you're still a bit off. CO primarily uses their 752 for international routes, since they're equipped with a BusinessFirst cabin, although they're occasionally assigned to domestic routes (probably for positioning purposes). The 753 is CO's domestic 757 workhorse.

As to CO's 'cattle car' seating in Y, based on some recent experiences I'll be the first to admit that I greatly prefer the seat pitch in E+, but CO's Y pitch is still better than UA's E-.

Meh. FWIW I don't dislike the colour scheme and think it better than AC's minty toothpaste off white colour scheme adopted a while back. I also like the CO globe logo and am glad they incorporated it into the new merged airline. Just MHO.

Was.

The current logo of the airline known as United and which covers the airlines formerly known as Continental and United is the globe. Get used to it; that's not going to change anytime soon.

I agree. UA let the blue and grey paint to deteriorate so bad that a bright new paint job is in order. I also agree that the 70's paint scheme was better.

The globe with the United name is the logo of the holding company. United still is operating as a fully-owned subsidiary. As is Continental.
