Its official and ugly, new UA livery, first a/c painted

Take a look. http://www.flightglobal.com/blogs/fl...ightblogger%29

I was hoping for a last minute reprieve for the tulip or at least something new. Guess it ain't going to happen.

I'm a little indifferent towards the livery. Not the best, not the worst. Maybe that means it's bad. :D

Beat me to the punch, was just about to post this!

I have to say, I am not impressed. Very bland. :td:

Just in time for Fleet Week. Look forward to seeing it in person.

UAL awesome Sep 28, 2010 7:48 pm

Still disgusting. I hope everyone at FleetWeek gives them hell for it.

SEA1K4EVR Sep 28, 2010 7:48 pm

I understand the reasoning, but it's just not nearly as nice as the tulip.

There is no reasoning behind it, it is all ego driven.

I just don't understand. Why not create something NEW together?!!

A clean slate would have been a much more logical solution.

More info from flightblogger site... Word on the street is the first two merged livery a/c are being painted right now: 737-900ER (N53442) and 757-200 (N29124)”

So not a fan. I think the tulip is more recognizable worldwide then the globe. But frankly I could care less as long as the new UNITED, improves service, keeps E+, keeps 3 class INTL travel, maked drinkd free in the RCC and so on and so on. What really matters, is the new company improve the product we all must/want to fly.

I like it. Better than the ugly old blue and Grey look or the new look that is already peeling and fading. Now, if they want to go to the United colors of the 70's, I'd be for that!!!

Because it's much more fun using a cost INeffective, outdated livery for your new brand image and then have to spend GOBS of money updating everything rather than only have to update half of it. I mean, it's not like branding agencies and marketers have called this decision an absolute terrible one or anything..er, wait no nevermind, they have done that.

Well, I don't agree with the first part, but I so agree for the 2nd part. The old old livery of UA will ALWAYS be the ultimate United in my mind...

Well that's true.. I"m at the SFO RCC right now just having gotten off a JFK-SFO flight. I was sitting right by the starboard engine and the paint is peeling off the top like crazy. Still, I like the old UA livery better than what they've come up with...and agree with others a completely new design may have been a better choice.

I do not think anything can be worse than the old blue and gray but the new UACO comes close--it is bland. The white color helps by avoiding the old dismal look of the blue and gray but not by much.
