I just looked again, UA Cargo now shows the aircraft as B777. Not sure if that means the domestic or international version. But ua.com is allowing me to check in with the 747 seat map. I thought when there was an aircraft swap OLCI generally wasn't available at the 24 hour mark.

Interesting trend on unitedcargo.com for these N194UA SFO-ORD-SFO flights. If the B747 gets subbed with another equipment type for SFO-ORD one day, then you see the same equipment type returning the next day for ORD-SFO. This holds true for the B777, 77Q, and 74C that are showing up over the next couple of days.
It appears that these particular turns could be SFO-ORD-???-ORD-SFO.

Another frame will rotate out -- maybe the next day, even -- back to SFO for mtce. You can see this by following individual frames' ACARS reports.
Now, when N194UA is locked into its regular SFO-ORD-SFO turn, that process doesn't apply. then, the rotation takes place at the NRT or HKG end.

Still Unavailable for OLCI
Tried checking in again, but it's still unavailable for check in. This has happened several times before on the 6am from SFO-ORD and every time the Gate Agents are scrambling in the AM to figure out the seating. I hope I get an upgrade if we get a new 747 configuration.

I checked UA Cargo, but which configuration is 77Q? If it goes that route, I guess we'll lose a lot of seats from at 747. See what happens in the morning.

Using UACargo's lingo: Sunday, B777. Monday, 77Q. Tuesday, 47C. Wednesday and on, our beloved B747...but like others have posted above, subject to change.
I'm on 973 next week so I'll be watching like a hawk. Hopefully either a UDU or VDB if things go my way...

LAX-NRT How can I find out which 747?
I'm sorry if this was discussed on a previous thread. Could not find it. I'm traveling LAX-NRT on UA 891 (747) on Sept 14th. The suitedreams web page says that there is one 747 aircraft that does not have the flat beds that they use in summer and winter on some routes including this one. How do I find out whether my aircraft would be with the new cabin or old?

Thanks in advance.

The one old style 747 is used almost exclusively for domestic routes only.
All international 747 flights are presently scheduled to use new config 747 (47C if looking at www.unitedcargo.com)

According to Flight aware.com (Which isn't the most reliable source around) N194UA Last unconfigured one is working SFO-PVG today, so you should be safe unless something really really odd happens. With that being said IF UA was smart they'd reconfigure it over the winter.
