Well he does have a history of saying insulting things like this: he once told an F/A to her face that she had the worst job in the world, and that they should all be payed minimum wage, or something like that.

What a FAIL, Dissing your most loyal fan base.

FWIW, in a recent focus group (the dinner sampling discussed on another thread) it was made clear that many of GTs underlings to indeed read FT religiously and pay attention to the chatter.

Of course, the fact that we actually spent our own time and money to shlep out to ORD to sample food also says a lot about us.

I'd have to agree.... I mean, after all, we ARE all here, debating it!

Well today, in one day, he is making more money than you will make in a year. I don't think he cares what everyone else is doing...?

Ciao,

Can't say that I've felt much love for Mr. Tilton on FT.

Evidently the feeling is mutual.

The FlyerTalk PAC - now there's an interesting idea. I'm in. ^

I think y'all are missing the bigger point here: Tilton's comment underscores why the Tulip was ditched.

I think the point is, just because someone (or a group of someones) has "too much time on their hands" and often post about things like the temperature of nuts, that doesn't discredit the fact that we are - as TechnoPagan put it - representative of the larger lucrative customer base and have very real, tangible, and important views of the company as a whole.

We are indeed, their customers, and our perception is what causes us to continue to do business with the company - or not to. If a customer has a valid complaint/analysis/critique (i.e. significance of E+ to us, as an aspect that often puts UA above other airlines), partaking in discussion other seemingly frivolous aspects (i.e. the font of the livery) do not discredit the validity and importance of the original subject.

You're kidding right? I don't really care about the other comment, I do have a bit of time on my hands and this is how I choose to kill that time. Other people do Facebook, Twitter, read magazines, shop for items on-line, etc. So this is they way I do it, not a big deal. But if he really said he only reads the positive comments then the man is an idiot.

Why would it matter if you have a lot of time on your hands, Its how you spend it. You have to be incredibly smart and have your life in such well shape that you can afford to have all that time, and just because your passion is Aviation, miles, etc, who are you to say what I do is a waste of time?

I hope that for UA fans/loyalists/etc., Tilton's comments have shown you a glimpse of what many of us not so smitten by United have often observed or experienced from the airline - a tone-deaf indifference if not hostility to the customer. CO's leaders would never say such a thing - indeed, CO maintains a formal presence on FlyerTalk, and has repeatedly adopted ideas and suggestions from FlyerTalkers as improvements for the airline. A change in identity will hopefully promote a change in attitude on the legacy UA side.
