Hi all, I've been lurking on the board for a few months now, and finally wanted to ask a question...

I'll be making a flight next week that will finally get me to 2P on UA. (Actually next week will get me to 2P on UA and Gold on AA in the same week...crazy booking requirements). I know the wiki says that it takes 2-7 days for the update to occur in the account. Has everyone's experience been closer to 2 or 7? I'm flying Sun (which will be the 2P flights) and out again Weds. Will it post by then? Basically, really want to make sure I get into E+ if possible for a cross-country trip.

Thanks in advance!

From my recent experience, made it back to 2P about 4 weeks ago (hallelujuah ), it took about 2.5 days to post the corrected (as the B-fare additional EQM miles is why I made it in one trip), as soon as those posted it said Premier on the account.

It took less than 24 hours to get the regular amount of EQM to post, then another day for the bonus EQM... so if you're flight gives you enough EQM to get to 2P w/o any bonuses etc.. should be closer to 2 days rather than 7 from my experience.

My status (2p, 1p, then finally 1k) posted as soon as the qualifying miles did. Generally my miles post 1-2 days after the flight, but it can take longer, especially if on a code share or in the event of cancellations/VDBs.

I had a similar situation when I qualified for 2P last year (qualified on Wednesday flight out, had return flight on Sunday). My EQM/EQS posted and my status updated on Thursday, but when I checked in for my Sunday flight I couldn't change to E+ without a fee, was still seating area 4 and OLCI wanted to charge me to check a bag. I'm guessing there's a glitch when you start an itinerary with no status and end it with status that prevents the return leg from updating.

I just printed out a screenshot of my MP account and brought it with me to the airport and went to the 2P counter. The ticket agent was able to change my seat and waive the checked bag fee. You may be able to call the ICC and have them make the changes, but I had no time crunch so it was just easier to handle at the AP.

Definitely make sure you get your status updated for your return flight, the 25% EQM bonus that 2Ps get will add up on your cross-country trip!

From what I can remember, I achieved a certain amount of miles on a Thursday and saw the status post online on the Saturday.

Status post
When I made 2P last year the status and miles posted on a Saturday after a Friday flight and just before a Monday return set. I was able to access the seat map Sunday.

Good Luck!

You might also be able to call United after the miles post (but before the status) and get them to manually put you into E+.

Update
So, I flew 2 flights Sunday and finally got the credit to the account. I got worried, since I checked yesterday and only 1 flight had posted, leaving me 300 miles short of the 25k. Checked again this morning and 2nd flight posted and it listed me as Premier.

Tried to change seats for tomorrow's flights and couldn't...wound up calling and after being told i was still a general member, I finally got them to allow me into E+. Guess there system has to be refreshed to update.

Not holding my breath on UDU for tomorrow, but who knows...

While the status tends to update in your MP account as soon as the miles that put you over the top post, it can take a few days for it to get through to the various systems. Which would expain why it can show up in your account on day 1, but for example, the kiosk might not recognize you as having status later that day.

In the case of partners, it usually takes longer for them to pick up the status, too.

Thanks for the welcome!

I do wish I could make 1K...if only I could fly my airline of choice, instead of what work makes me fly...have 30 segments on UA this year so far and will get 29 & 30 on AA on Friday...also have 10 or so segments on DL. At the rate I'm going, I would have made 1K by June...

Oh well - I guess you can't have everything.

How long until 2P kicks in?
Hey there:

After my PDX to MSY roundtrip this month, I'll have enough EQM to be a 2P member. Does that take effect as soon as you cross over the 25k EQM, or does it take a while to kick in?

I ask because I've got a a transatlantic trip a week and a half after, and would like to be a premier member beforehand (in case some upgrades are available).

Thanks! ^

Your new status should show up online as soon as your miles post and you cross the 25k threshold. You'll definitely have 2P benefits on your TATL flight (though the unlimited upgrade program is only for domestic flights..not TATL).

After you become 2P be sure to check your itineraries to see if you've been put on the upgrade list for your domestic segments at least..and if you haven't call reservations and have them add you to the pending upgrade list.

Your status will be updated as soon as the flights post -- usuaully a day or two. UA will credit the 25% RDM bonus on all flights that start after you have achieved the mileage threshold. It can take up to a week for E+ access to show up. The 2P card can take awhile -- 4 to 6 weeks is the typically delay.

As a 2P, TATL upgrades/op-ups are exceptionally rare.
