It flew. Aircraft #3964 flew the recovery HNL-SIN UA3035 on 9 Feb and UA3034 on 10 Feb. Aircraft #3968 was the one that went mx and is still in HNL, causing the UA1 cx on 10 Feb. I was on the cx UA2 on 9 Feb. UA staff in SIN were proactively offering OAL options.

Just saw UA30xx heading into EWR from MAD - auto-assumed something was up in recent days. And the recovery flight was late by hours.

UA975 GVA-IAD 763 cancelled crew scheduling disruption
UA143 DEN-NRT 789 is delayed by 8 hours. Return UA142 NRT-DEN on 2/12 has been cancelled. Outbound aircraft would arrive 6 hours later than flight 142's departure, at around 11:25 PM.

Feb 4th UA96 SFO-BNE cancelled and return UA97 on Feb 6th cancelled as a result
Regardless of what UA said, I noticed that J was 8/48 as of an hour before they cancelled it. It seemed like a total of roughly 25 seats (assuming that played a huge factor in the cancellation)

UA2458 EWR-LAX delayed 5 hours due to a MX issue from an inbound LAS-EWR(super bowl special). The aircraft was axed for the flight and a replacement took over. $15 meal voucher. Last check the burgers at EWR were $25.

My brother is a retired DL 767 Captain. He said it was standard practice during IRROPS when you needed an airframe to cancel a flight with light loads and move it to a heavily booked flight.

Agree wtih the above. Super easy to re-route "25 people" on SFO-BNE to SYD or MEL and use Virgin Australia partnership to get them to BNE or their final destination (which may have been SYD or MEL in the first place).
