Plus points can't be transferred as far as I know but they can use those plus points to upgrade others.

Yes, they can be used to upgrade others' flights.

They can be used to upgrade others' flights, but cannot be transferred into someone else's MP account. The ticket can be purchased in any manner - it's not required that it be purchased in the PP sponsor's account - and then accessed from the MP account of the person with the PlusPoints and upgraded from there.

Note that selling / bartering PlusPoints is strictly prohibited, and if UA finds out, they can / will close the seller’s account.

It’s perfectly fine to give them away, but not to sell them.

Quick Question - Flying w/ Family Two itineraries?

Can't believe I've never had to address this before ... but quick question for the group.

I'm going to bring my family (wife, 2 small kids, 1 will need a seat) with me on a biz trip. I fly in first per my company policy. They'll automatically book me up front when I schedule the trip.

When I book the other 2 tickets (wife and oldest kid), they wont be on my itinerary(?). So - won't be able to select premium seats? Can use pluspoints for this? It would be nice to put the whole family in F but not necessary.

Thanks for the help. I've only ever had strictly business or personal travel before.

You can use Plus Points if you wish, yes. However, the upgrade will be by their Premier status, not yours.

They will not be on the same PNR. You may or may not be able to get them Economy Plus seats by calling (is that what you mean by "premium seats"?) - it would be standard policy if you are on the flight and in the same cabin, but a nice agent may do it even though you're not in Y.

As expected. Thank you.

Do I lose my platinum points when hitting 1k?

Quick question

I have 40 plus points in my account now as a platinum. They expire 1/24

i will hit 1K for 2023 next week. Will I get an additional 280 next week so I will have a total of 320 or will I still have 280??

Thanks!

The latter. Assuming you don't spend the current 40, You'll have a total of 320.

The former.

When you hit Platinum, you get 40 PP. When you keep flying and hit 1K, you get an additional 280 PP. This totals to 320 PP that you can use.

For the 20 extra plus points/$2k PQP, what if you qualified for 1k through 13.5k PQP + 36 PQF? Do the bonus plus points still only start to apply after 15k PQP (i.e. first bonus at 17k PQP) or does it adjust correspondingly to 15.5k?

You must hit 17K for the additional 20 PQP.

Goes up 27K next year and 3K increment.

Nope. 21k and then 3k increments.

Has anyone else seen PPs not being deducted for upgrades to other travellers? I scored an update for myself plus two other travelers from PP to Polaris, but only the 30 points for my upgrade seem to have been deducted from my account so far.

That's only if you have the 54 PQF, though. Otherwise, the first additional PlusPoints increment is at 27,000 PQP.

I have Polaris waitlist for my wife in a few weeks. I'm flying the same route and have already been upgraded. Both upgrades were requested using Plus Points, but we're on separate reservations. Is there any way for me to have her waitlist priority inherit my 1K status given that we're going to be flying together?
