Well to be utterly fair, regular commercial espresso machines take a decent amount of maintenance to keep in working order, let alone commercial superautomatic machines which need even more specialized care. If I had to guess some internal sensor probably broke and they are waiting on parts to fix, or they got flooded with complaints of bad espresso. Given that it is two machines connected to the same hoppers, it is probably related to the bean dispenser and grinder.

Leave it up to the individual to take demonstrably-effective steps to reduce risk of contracting the virus if they wish (that being a fit-tested, properly-worn N95 if they so choose).

High quality air quality/filtration is key. Of course you must recall that United frequently touted how great their planes are at this. Why shouldnt the club be the same?

Because it's an indoor space that simply is not conducive to enabling the same type of continuous, directional airflow of a confined aircraft cabin?

That said, let's stick to the new EWR lounge related issues. Other topics are better handled in other forums

This may have been covered above but it interesting to note that they again have sofas or couch like seating. In the past couches/sofas were removed as they promoted sleeping in the club. As I have been guilty of dozing off more than one in a UC and even had some of my favorite quite spots I won't say much more on this.

Because a club isn’t a plane - and in a club you don’t have seat assignments

Checked out this club on 6/2, while EWR was in the midst of a minor east coast thunderstorm meltdown.
Food was excellent. Drinks and service excellent. We had our infant with us on her first trip, and really appreciated the private nursing/changing room.
Was overcrowded, but so was all of EWR with so many ground-stopped flights.
This is by far the best United Club I've experienced (excluding Polaris lounges, of course).
Well done, UA!

The alarms were quite annoying when sitting in the work cubbies.
