That same page also mentions “Using Miles” on Virgin Australia, without a start date, implying that it is possible to book award travel now, but I’m not seeing any inventory loaded (at least on a few popular domestic routes).

If I am reading that right, it doesn't look like it will be possible to earn UA premier qualifying credits on VA marketed flights

That's access to VA lounges on int'l flights only, right? Not all flights?

PQPs only on *A partners, no PQPs for UA's non-*A partners

VA is now listed on Earning Premier qualifying credit on partner airlines

VA have very few international flights. Only fly to Fiji (from wikipedia). But have not restarted NZ.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...a_destinations
VA will not have any own lounges for international:- use 3rd party
All VA's long haul B777's are gone. Have gone back to banks and lessors

Edit
Refer post 90--> " Premier Gold, Platinum and 1K®: members are eligible for access to Virgin Australia operated lounges"
So as VA do not have any international terminal lounges, it can only mean AU domestic lounges
In AU international arrivals, international departure & domestic are physically separated. You can only access international (departure) lounges after completing AU border force emigration controls. Need to be leaving AU. (A few minor exceptions with some limited QF D-I flights)

Pretty sure it’s all domestic Australian lounges too

Are you suggesting international itinerates only, or international flights only?

International flights only doesn't make any sense, as VA doesn't currently have any lounges in the international terminals (not to mention very few international flights at all).

International itinerates/same-day international connections is a possibility - but the VA/DL partnership allowed for VA lounge access for any VA flights, including wholly domestic itineraries so I'm hopeful that's what this is will look too...

Good. Will earn 25% on domestic flights booked for October. Lounge access anyway through Amex, but good to know it is included as well. Will be interesting to see, if UA agents will check luggage through on separate PNR

So far not yet possible to add UA FQTV # to VA reservation

If entering AU on a UA flight will not make any difference, as need to process immigration, customs & bio security with your checked and carryon luggage. Then to the VA domestic flight with your luggage for bag drop (and check in if needed)

It is frustrating not being able to book UA-VA itinerary on United.com, especially UA postpone its Melboune flight.
I was able to book UA-VA itineray for travel next week using Google Flights, but those flighs are no longer showing for July.

Agree with the frustration about UA not having the VA flights on their own website (as either the underling flight numbers, or codeshares), however I'm not having any trouble pulling up the UA->VA connections using Google Flights for some random dates in July.

I was referring to international itineraries - similar to how Star Gold would normally work for lounge access.

Makes sense that VA is offering it for all flights since they're primarily a domestic carrier now ... but still seems unusual to give status-based lounge access on domestic itineraries.

I was under the impression that elite status not having lounge access for domestic flights was a primarily US (and Canada?) phenomenon. Qantas gives lounge access to elites (I think) on domestic flights as well.

It's almost unique to the US. QF and AC both permit lounge access to elites and J pax on domestic itineraries.

Star Gold gets you lounge access in Europe on a Y ticket, but only for int'l flights. Obviously easier to qualify in that respect, but it's a significant distinction that I just assumed would apply here.
