Just starting to look at TPAC travel options this fall, which is the earliest I think that International travel might be practical. Not finding any PZ space on initial searches, which surprises me a bit. I have seen quite a bit of PZ space on TATL flights. Obviously anecdotal, but are others seeing similar?

Same here- there was widespread availability of PZ space to Auckland from SFO when we were planning on going in the fall this year, now I can't find any this year or next.

I'm assuming it has to do with the current situation with COVID, but am hoping they open up the space again soon. Anyone have any thoughts/other thoughts as to what's going on with the PZ space?

With that, there is no sense in offering award seats when there may be few revenue seats to begin with.

PZ space. on the other hand, would have potentially allowed them to earn some of my money that they otherwise aren't going to get -- at least, for the time being, anyway.

You are correct sir. There are no direct flights. I was originally nonstop and have been rescheduling to to arrive as soon as possible (now rescheduled again) on SFO NRT TPE. NRT TPE was scheduled on NH. I do expect to see it change again. My company has a contract with the Government of Taiwan and has been allowed access.

FYI, even if your allowed in ALL arrivals must stay home (or at approved hotel at cost up which maybe not cheap) for 14+ days plus 7 more days of self checking. It may not be worth the trip unless you have long term stay planned here in Taiwan.

Thanks for the advice. With the constant changes we are now looking at late May at best. My point of contact is working with the Government get a heads up on when relaxing of quarantine requirements could begin and if work arounds will be allowed. (Self quarantine before departure with electronic bio monitoring). Ain’t modern technology grand?

Singapore Airlines has announced it is extending its current significantly reduced schedule until the end of June. This is a strong signal that Singapore will likely not open its border until the second half of the year. My current (gone through four changes) booking on UA's SFO-SIN flight on June 4 looks less likely to happen at this point.

I need to get back to Singapore, Beijing or Melbourne for work. Whichever opens up first, i will be there.

however, will you accept 14 day forced quarantine by PRC government once you get to PEK?

I would never take that.

These arrival quarantines will likely be significantly less of an issue by the time he is ready to fly.

I am told Shanghai or Shenzhen are better places for mandatory quarantine than PEK, but you never know the benchmark.
I do know people who have come out ok without losing arms or legs and now are out about without any problems. Who knows?

Yeah, but being forced to stay at some random hotel for even few days is no fun.

14 days? No way I'll be subject myself to a "prison" stay that long.

I am hoping that in July or August at latest, China will accept test results from other countries and lift the quarantine.

Or China might have own rapid test (15 min) upon arrival.

Sure, no sweat. People have different tolerance for hardships. No one is forced to travel unless one has to travel.
Based on quarantine requirements, it is not for vacationer or causal social visits with family or friends. You can wait as long as it fits your tolerance level.
I would suggest stay home for leisure travelers.

I did a home quarantine myself (before the rules tightened up), which was quite civilized, and I know about 15 people who have done hotel quarantines. None of them reported overtly negative experiences (a few were cleared on day 2, in fact). Furthermore, there is some choice in hotels (as well as fairly posh serviced apartments), depending on your budget.

Maybe off topic but United is definitely blocking award seats on EVA. All dates through end of June TPE to SFO. Even though you can see availability on United dot com but won’t let you book past the payment page. Same with calling in. Won’t confirm. Same flight same date through Avianca lifemiles booked within the hour and confirmed with ticket number.

I wonder if they're going out of their way to discourage travel on non-JV partners.

It wouldn't surprise me...yet another DL strategy that UA and AA are bound to emulate sooner or later.

UA’s June schedule just came out. SIN has been taken out of the schedule once again. Not sure if the China flights will happen:
