Just returned home to EWR. I visited newly opened MCO, and 3 of the 4 clubs in IAH. What a difference from EWR. Food in MCO and all 3 IAH lounges was much better. Creative, tasteful and better quality than EWR.
Also, bar seating without plastic shields was available, and EWR has no bar seating. Better yet, glassware was used in MCO and all clubs in IAH, and EWR is still using cheap plastic cups. How is EWR getting away with this?

Agreed as posted earlier, not happening soon. Probably will be lucky if even one is open by the end of the year (as UA is willing to put a timeframe on the International UCs but not PLs).

The many United Club (UC) members and Star Alliance Gold passengers would be happy indeed upon UC openings at LHR, NRT, HKG, GUM & MEX during the fourth quarter this year.

Which, of course, they can argue is never. They were good when they lasted but I would not take for granted they they will certainly return. The world is a bit different now and they may no longer be able to populate those polaris cabins with sufficient high paying business passengers on J, D and C fares who fund or justify the incremental costs of the lounge.
They must be extremely expensive to run; They have a huge footprint with very high leasing costs and all the operating costs of an on-demand restaurant, in addition to a higher (than a UC) staff to guest ration. I really don't see how they can re-open without huge numbers of corporate J flyers subsidizing the operation-corporate flyers that I believe will never return due to the plague and the improved communications technology that evolved as a result. Sadly, it's likely that future Polaris customers will just get access to the UCs, perhaps with an exclusive area.

Can't emphasize enough that when a corporate team is putting this many qualifiers on something, it just flat out isn't happening. They're currently working on the planning process for the potential re-mobilization of PLs, pending some undefined international traffic metric. My bet is the first PL anyone sees open is 6/30/22.

The Newark polaris lounge was quite nice the couple of times I flew through EWR prior to the pandemic. However United is a terribly cheap airline when it comes to the lounge division. Recall how they reneged on lifetime club memberships -- never trust United to do the right thing. That airline has no moral compass.

United lifetime passholders still have access to the Club. They have to follow the same rules as everyone else

Well if it makes anyone feel any better, the service is just the same on DL one international , dreadful beef/chicken/pasta served on one tray with one pass of drinks in plastic cups, DL should be ashamed of themselves for their poor service in DL to Europe !
