By 2023, UA has returned to the more traditional pre-COVID schedule update process. There are still some closer in changes but far less than during the COVID era.

UA publishes a schedule for 330 days in advance (called Beginning of Schedule) and in the past would make tweaks quarterly and things would be fairly settles 3-4 months out. Updates would occur Friday evening / Saturday morning (Chicago time). Routine additions could occur anytime.

Present updates are every Friday and sometimes mid-week usually focused on the next month and farther out.

However, during the COVID era, UA has gone to a more dynamic and shorter-term setting of schedule (as has the other carriers). Presently UA, while UA is still publishing a schedule for 330 days in advance it reflects pre-COVID operational levels and is considered just a placeholder schedule. Then 3-5 weeks prior to a month, UA makes a major update of that month's schedule.

Examples (Major updates)
The October 2020 schedule was updated 4-5 September 2020
The November 2020 schedule was updated 2-3 October 2020
The December 2020 schedule was updated 30-31 October 2020
Holidays can move the major date a week earlier or later.
Weekly updates are still generally done over night Friday-Saturday (Chicago)

UA does not publish a summary of most schedule changes but a variety of sources below do and summaries / links of those sources can be found in this thread & wiki.

Always crosscheck with UA's Travel Notices , Coronavirus (COVID-19) travel waivers and information, www.united.com/coronavirus as the situation is dynamic

Had some nasty December schedule changes last night, just as I thought they had finalized the schedule. BOS-EWR cancellations (the 4 p.m. flight is UA insane?) with now only 2 and 6 p.m. options, none of which connects well to evening TATL traffic. Now auto rebooked to arrive 3 hours later ugh … no good alternative options… and we lost the bulkhead in row 1

Rerouted from LHR-EWR-BOS to LHR-IAD-BOS due to elimination of late EWR-BOS flight

Just got a round of changes for March last night - second round of changes on a/c types SFO-EWR in the last few weeks and some east coast EWR flights with times moving around.

Second time in 30 days that the same reservation has been rebooked out of O to flights without O, and unsurprisingly downgraded. In each case I've been able to rebook back to O at the original (as far as I can tell, "saver") price of 30k points, but am expecting battles as schedule changes roll through closer to the trip time and seats start filling-up.

I'm a fan of PremPlus but it's just not reliable to book on transcons.

Slew of schedule changes hit impacting flight numbers only. somehow also knocked out all of my seat assignments. Some previous seats are now occupied and others can't pull up the seat map.

No PHX to EWR redeyes in March and April 2024?

Looking at the schedule, it doesn't look like there are any PHX to EWR redeyes during March and April 2024. Anyone one know anything about this? Any place I can write to express my concern about this?

Thanks!

I see UA1375 on the schedule from March 9 through March 30, daily. It takes a hiatus, and then returns on May 23.

As for to whom to write -- since I know you're not suggesting that a letter from a single customer is going to cause UA to change their schedule, I suggest writing to American Airlines reservations. They continue to operate a Newark redeye as well as a JFK redeye, all April and May long.

March 30 coincides with the end of Spring Training baseball season. However, the NCAA Final Four is taking place the following weekend in Glendale, so I’d guess they’d maintain/extend the red eye through then.
