My wife (2nd on the upgrade list) didn’t make the cut. This flight was insane as far as its J-seats were concerned. At check-in T-24 it showed 48/50 booked, writhin the next 2 hours that changed to “Full”. At T-2 it changed back to 48 + 1, later back to Full, then down to 46 (that was 45 minutes before departure) and then back to 48 + 1. What a nightmare!

So how do I go about getting the GPU back that I applied for my wife? Will that be re-deposited automatically or will I have to call for that?

Generally it returns automatically in a few days, if not by a week, call. Some irrops, schedule changes can confuse the auto-return.

On a side note, was a bit stunned that it was J7 at T24 and the sweep went down to J2 as normal. I was on MUA, friend who isn’t a 1K and didn’t book PP cleared at the sweep with a 1Ks GPU, I did not. Makes me think PP may not have priority and MUAs may fall below GPUs on upgrade list.
Another funny thing was that PN2 PZ2 opened T-75 minutes from departure and I was at gate and watched #4-5 on upgrade list approach GA to ask to be cleared since space opened. GA then seemingly quickly held the last 2 seats until T-60 and cleared me + 1. The system seems to have some real flaws and I question the priority on the list now.
