I really thought I was going to post an upgrade failure here. I booked SFO-TPE for the Sunday after Thanksgiving, and never got off the WL. At T-24, I was #6 on the upgrade list. 1K with a V fare. The issue is, UA is overselling PE, and then upgrading PE to J. This means of course that folks in Y, with a GPU (W or above), will not be upgraded to business class. At T-6, I was #1 on he upgrade list. Maybe because of misconnects due to SFO weather issues Sunday, I was upgraded at the gate. I think there were 2 seats available then. I can tolerate UA's increased 1K requirements, but when I cannot use my GPUs, there would be no point stretching for 1K status.

I like the new PP system. Work allows for P+ travel to Europe, which increases my odds of upgrade to J compared to buying W and using GPU.
