I've walked from TBIT to T7 outside, not a fan. Noisy, sometimes humid, sometimes cold. If it's a lovely day out, sure, do the outside walk.

So, I’d enter precheck at T6 or 7. Honestly, I can’t remember the last time I waited >5m at ANY LAX terminal with Pre.
Upper or lower level? Knock yourself out depending on the weather.

The steps to the walk from TBIT to Polaris are going to be much greater if you enter airside at T4/5. You will come up from the tunnel midfield T6, have to walk the loop back to the main terminal and back out midfield in T7.

Agree with above. We walked upper level, but it was a lovely, crisp morning. Reentered at 7 and there was no line at pre-check. I’ve done the Terminal 7-8 walk to/from TBIT airside many times and it’s got to be 10 minutes longer winding through the terminals and tunnels vs. going outside the whole way. Also, if it’s hot (which would be the worst case scenario I guess) the inter terminal tunnels, IME, are actually hotter and stuffier than outside.

One of the problems with other terminals is that security check is on the level above check in. I am pretty sure this is the case at T4 & T6, not sure about T5. If on the upper level, it's not easy to check the lines. T7 security is on the check-in level.

I've found walking time airside vs. outdoors can be pretty similar due to congestion on the sidewalks outside. If it's not a busy departures period, the walk on the upper level is reasonably pleasant. IME T6 Pre gets much less traffic than T7.

I agree at whatever time I arrive LAX T7 pre-check I never have more than a few moment wait. Especially since they have those new machines that scan either your passport, or drivers license, or any other acceptable ID. And they don’t have to circle and initial your boarding pass 3-4 times..

I actually believe the complete opposite is true. I have never once had Clear make a difference at LAX in dozens of uses. In fact, more often than not, it takes more time.
Had plenty of airports where it has made a difference, but LAX isn’t material IME.
My references are all at T2/3/7 for what that’s worth.
