For 2017 qualifications, see the 2017 thread and for 2018, see the 2018 thread

To find your PQDs if >than $12K
Go to
MileagePlus activity since my last statement and it is in the "Account summary" table at the top of the page.

Note this is not just the UA operated PQDs (which is commonly believed to be what matters for GS) but rather your total PQDs.

Definitions

BIS is actual scheduled flight distance (Great Circle Mileage Distance -- GCM) between airports with 500 mile minimum for elites. This is the standard used for Lifetime miles also. Those flying mostly sub-500 segments sometimes prefer to not use the minimum rule.

The definition for CPM is a bit vaguer, especially since CPM is used in multiple different situations.

Believe for the purpose of this thread, GS qualification, folks are using

PQD CPM = UA PQDs / UA BIS

Note there is no direct evidence UA uses this CPM number for GS Qualification but it is a number FTers like to use.

As for BIS, UA does not report this number your account and it needs to be manually tracked.

One way is to make use that PQMs are based on BIS but there may be a multiplier / bonus for high end fares. If always in 2x PQMs, you could divide by 2 to get BIS.

rwsteelers had a good method for determining UA BIS -- the change in Lifetime Miles from the first of the year.

Similar spreadsheets were created in years past, so I'm hoping to continue this tradition. Please take the time to enter your stats into the spreadsheet. Many thanks

"Unless those PQD's are NOT on UA metal (no *A dollars) you are a lock."

You should be good. I qualified with very similar stats out of ORD last year. Only thing I can think of is that if the 1K PQD requirement has gone up, the GS requirement may go up as well.

Most of the posts here are about individuals qualifying for GS status on their own. Does anyone know whether it's possible to qualify based on company travel over which an individual has control?

I'm nearly a 2 Million Mile Flyer but won't qualify for GS on my own in 2019. However, I'm the Executive Director of an organization that expects to spend more than $200K on air travel next year. My staff, Board members, and I fly frequently for our work all over the world. This year, we traveled to all continents and made frequent use of United Airlines for our air travel needs. Next year, we expect to travel even more and the vast majority of that travel will be on United and United Express.

Should I write to UA CEO Oscar Munoz and request GS status for 2019? I know UA used to grant GS to those who were in a position to direct significant revenue to the airline. Does anyone know the proper procedure to request GS status under such circumstances?

If your organization can direct $500,000 in annual spend on UA or UA Express metal, you may be granted 1 GS nomination. A number of us have spent over $200,00 annually on our individual travel. I suggest that you look at the PassPlus Program.

Hello - does anyone have access to the GS qualification spreadsheets that were posted here in years past? I was able to search back through the threads and was able to find two of them. However I recall that there were at least 3 of these spreadsheets circulating on Flyertalk??? If anyone has the link to the 2016 Google Doc, please let me know:

BASE: ORD
PQM: 225K
PQD: $64K ($60K on UA metal)
PQS: 51

Only concern is last year most my travel was on AA due to previous employers AA contract. 2017 I only spent about $20K PQD on UA. Most my travel is in paid business international flights. Hoping to make GS next year.

PassPlus is likely the answer for you ... put simply, with PassPlus you commit and "pre-load" $50k+ to United at the start of the year, and pull down on this credit throughout the year. You can add additional credit. Historically, you would receive GS if $50k or more is "pre-loaded". There are individual and group plans available. More detail can be found at https://www.united.com/web/en-US/con...s/default.aspx

Beleive the OP is saying they don't have $50K annually in travel but influences $200K of travel. As others have pointed out $200K in total company travel is likely too low to get a complimentary GS slot.

Depends how the OP is "influencing" travel ... allowing everyone to do their own thing and charge individually versus controlling all spend using his UATP, should he enroll in PassPlus. I guess my point being that without knowing the organization size and procurement processes, it's hard to give the right answer; b) UA does give VOLPROFs (registered voluntary and non-profit organizations) flexibility and leniency on some of the programs, including PassPlus. Just saying it's worth looking into and discussing with the UA sales people running PassPlus - it worked for my friends at a nonprof in DC, and it's worth a shot.

I've been GS since 2014, EWR-based. I'll end up with around $61k PQD on UA metal, nearly all on Int'l premium cabins. Last year I was at $71k. I think I was around $60k in 2016. Hoping the drop-off year-on-year doesn't keep me out of the club...

Why is it not in UAs interest to publish a GS PQD requirement?

Seems like it would drive incremental revenue from PQD runs and eliminate the uncertainty that surely annoys high revenue passengers who just miss the cutoff.

CO published that they required $30K spend on their metal for Presidential Platinum. Why doesn't UA do the same? If the reason is that hub pax need to spend more, there are probably ways to enforce that as well.

Because they want to control the absolute number of GS, and likely relative number of GS at certain stations (SFO!).

As such, the actual requirement is not known ahead of time.
