To find your PQDs if >than $12K
Go to
MileagePlus activity since my last statement and it is in the "Account summary" table at the top of the page.

Note this is not just the UA operated PQDs (which is commonly believed to be what matters for GS) but rather your total PQDs.

Definitions

BIS is actual scheduled flight distance (Great Circle Mileage Distance -- GCM) between airports with 500 mile minimum for elites. This is the standard used for Lifetime miles also. Those flying mostly sub-500 segments sometimes prefer to not use the minimum rule.

The definition for CPM is a bit vaguer, especially since CPM is used in multiple different situations.

Believe for the purpose of this thread, GS qualification, folks are using

PQD CPM = UA PQDs / UA BIS

Note there is no direct evidence UA uses this CPM number for GS Qualification but it is a number FTers like to use.

As for BIS, UA does not report this number your account and it needs to be manually tracked.

One way is to make use that PQMs are based on BIS but there may be a multiplier / bonus for high end fares. If always in 2x PQMs, you could divide by 2 to get BIS.

rwsteelers had a good method for determining UA BIS -- the change in Lifetime Miles from the first of the year.

Similar spreadsheets were created in years past, so I'm hoping to continue this tradition. Please take the time to enter your stats into the spreadsheet. Many thanks

Currently sitting at 90 PQS, 500K PQM, $67K PQD, 379K BIS. I will end the year at around 80K PQD.

I need 200K more in BIS to make it to 4 Mil. I may reach that in 2019.

Well, your intrepid Original Poster has just booked his final trips for the year and after missing last year with 272K PQM, 187PQS, $51,164PQD, 133,130BIS and a CPM of .38 I'm going to finish this year with 256KPQM, 173.5PQS, $53,617PQD, 121,668BIS and .44CPM. I'm hoping to get in this year.

With 100k PQD in the trailing two years, I'd say you have a shot. Good luck!

I think you have a solid chance this year... you likely were right on the bubble last year, but with the slightly higher PQD this year, you will probably be in (i would be shocked if you miss).

With a couple INTL trips planned it would be nice to get the points+GPU perk for the wifey.

Indeed.... I'm in the same boat, as I am going to cross over 1MM either late this year or in the first month or two of 2019... if I can regain my GS status, my Mrs. and I will share that status next year... though I think you have a much better shot than I do with $53K PQD projected while I'm likely to only hit $43K. At least on my end, we will both be 1K, and with the new pre-boarding policy for 1K, I am quite satisfied (though I TERRIBLY miss the next flight guarantee that I had the last couple years as GS).

Good luck... hope it works out for ya.

The denial last year was one of the more surprising that I recall being reported. IIRC, it was generally attributed to (relatively) low spend in prior years. But still, $51k should ordinarily be sufficient.

I would agree with this.... though my own hopes of qualifying again after this year's hiatus as a 1K are now diminishing based on this case, even though my previous 3 years average out to around $50,000 PQD while I will land on $43K this year.... I think I'm stuck at 1K for a while until I have a big int'l travel year again.

typo

EWR Based

Was GS in 2016 but can't find stats.

2017 GS

UA BIS 114,412
UA PQD $62k
UA PQM 237,000

2018

UA BIS 42k
UA PQD $29k
UA PQM 85K

Future 2018 flight about PQD 20k, maybe 16K BIS, and 32k PQM

Have flown about half of 2017s travel but my spend will be 50k v 64k in 2017. Barely breaking 1k! Will be interesting to see if I get GS again...

My flying got off to such a slow start this year. Had some family stuff really make it difficult for me to get away. Then I was on Jury duty for over a month. I think I was over $85PQD in 2016 so even if I am under $50k spend in 2018 my three year average is well over the magic 50 if I hit say $45PQD this year. I have one confirmed trip which will get me to $29k, and then one more to London which I could push to $16k RT or at least 2x $8k o/w's. I hold out no credence in CPM but over the years I have heard GS look at past spend. But I hope with (roughly) $45k PQD all on UA and around 100k BIS miles this is probably the highest cpm I will hit. Just need to make sure UA doesn't pull a 1K fast one (where earnings are clearly laid out) on hiking the secretive and mysterious ways of GS. What a great game this is, if you like flying

Thank Goodness... Got a $14K PQD booking TPAC for late next week that will push me from $32K to $46K. Hopefully this will be enough to push me over the hump to qualify once again from 1K to GS. I will probably tack on another $5000 PQD in domestic and Canada before year's end to hit $50K.

Now MCO based and not DEN anymore.

Butt-In-Seat. Actual air miles you fly on UA/UX (codeshares do not count -- it must be real UA/UX metal). The only exception is you get a minimum 500 miles for flights under 500, if you are a premier member of MileagePlus.
