PQDs are mostly earned by flying, but not all elites are subject to PQD requirements. PQDs can also be earned by Economy Plus purchases (by flight or subscription), although for anyone seeking to qualify for Gold or above an annual plan (min. $499) gets you nothing. There is no way to "pay" UA to fulfill PQD requirement in the qualifying year. There may be a status buy-up in January of the next year -- not cheap and does not come in small increments,
Non-USA registered MP members are exempt from PQD requirements.
Others can be exempt from PQDs up to the Premier Platinum level by having a Chase PresidentalPlus credit card {not open to new members} or by annually spending $25,000 or more as a primary MP branded Chase credit cardholder.
PQMs can be earned by flying UA or various flight partners and by various bonuses related to flying (class or service, promos, ...)
PQMs can be purchased by Premier Accelerator purchases. Certain legacy (not available to new customers) Chase MP credit cards earn PQMs or FPQMs

2 segments short for silver status

I have 28 segments, 23168 PQMs and $5828 PQDs. Not sure i can do a run from CID before years end and even if I could, everything is much more expensive from here. Any suggestions out there and what else I could do to get over the hump before FY19?

Thanks

Flying out of SFO as home airport, need 2,000 PQMs to get back to 1K! Thinking SFO - DEN same day return? Have an RPU I need to burn and there is the afternoon flight on the 772 with the old global first product that i'd like to get on. Comes out to $700ish RT.

Thoughts on something cheaper?

$150 for two segments

The four segments will span two program years. If you have a friend in Nashville, it will work great. If you do not, check other cities that you can borrow a couch. Good luck.

Google flights as described in the wiki is a good tool for this if you aren't proficient with the ITA tool.

SFO-LAX in First Class will give you exactly 2000 PQM for $411, on Dec. 28.

Mileage run

Is there any way at this point to determine cheapest mileage run option for 10,300 mile need between 12/25 and year end?

Welcome to FlyerTalk and especially to the United threads!

Maybe if you share your location some FTers could give useful suggestions.

Try Google flights.

Or search the thread about mileage runs.

Not aware of any tool that would specifically do this as there are just too many variables but there are a number of resources to help. Some of the resources are listed in this thread's wiki ( the top post) .

You could do same day SFO-LAX-SFO-LAX-SFO. Four segments at 500 PQM minimum each. Looks like $233 for a round trip is the cheapest option, figure around $500 for two round trips if you choose a somewhat higher fare. Or purchase First at around $450 and do a single RT... I think you get 1000 PQM, but verify that.

Similar routes that might be less boring would include SAN, SMF, perhaps a SFO-SMF-LAX-SAN-SFO? Not sure if SAN-SFO is offered.

If you have a day available, do SFO-LAX return for $233 and SDC in each direction to a flight with connection.
I'm doing similar today and there are plenty of free connecting flights being offered for SDC.

SFO-DEN return is only 1934 PQM in Y, so depending on how you were rounding...

SFO-PDX n/s in F is 2200 PQM and $700.

I'm about 9100 miles short of 1K. I've looked on Google Flights and done a few checks on the UA website but I don't see anything that's less than $1300 R/T in F (West Coast). My home airport is CLE but CAK is the same distance and PIT is not that far away. Any ideas on whether I'm going about this the right or wrong way?

Alternatively, would there be any point in calling UA to ask if I can be granted 1K since my PQD is over $16k?

TIA
