If they are going to put it on a/c other than the 787, it should be adopted fleet-wide. And I agree, anything that updates a tired livery would help.

I'm currently sitting on N13248 (DTV 738) en-route from Denver to Anchorage and the aircraft has both DTV and PDE. The PDE selection appears a little more limited than non DTV aircraft but the offering is comparable. The availability of PDE is not advertised via the amenities page in the flight status or the PDE page on the website but is available.

I'm not sure if PDE is only enabled for flights leaving the lower 48, but it worked throughout the entire flight (e.g. didn't matter if we were in DTV range or not).

I'll check on my next DTV enabled flight that is limited to the lower 48 to see if PDE is there, but am curious if anyone has seen this as well.

I flew on two DirectTV 737s two weeks ago and both offered PDE. I agree, it's a limited selection of content. One of the flights was CUN-IAH and it worked the entire flight.

There are ~90 a/c with it by now. I think all are Thales WiFi& DTV so far (not sure if a Panasonic/DTV combo exists, tbh). Goal for full mainline PDE rollout is by the end of Q2. It should work everywhere, not just the lower 48. Interesting about the slimmer selection, though.

I read that United is the 2nd customer for the 787-10, any idea when United's will be delivered? And it's with Polaris according to the tracker but any idea on seat counts?

just wondering which wifi system was install on 777 HD and 77W. According to one FA, 777's wifi systems are not working well.

777s have the Panasonic wifi system. The Panasonic system has been having satellite capacity issues for quite a while now. UA is upgrading the equipment in all of the aircraft that have the Panasonic equipment installed to enable them to connect to the new satellite network but on the Airbus aircraft that I have been on that have the new equipment I haven't noticed a meaningful difference in bandwidth and performance.

UA is indeed the 2nd 78J customer and first delivery is set for November 1st. There will be somewhere between 2 and 4 delivered in Nov and Dec this year.

Glad to see they are being smart and not ferrying empty planes across the Pacific

Thanks for the info! I'm actually surprised it's going to be November for delivery, that means that Boeing isn't even making 1 78J / month at that rate...

Singapore will get 8 78Js by the time United gets it’s first. 78J production will ramp up after this year.
