That doesn't sound right. For a lunch or dinner flight, there should be a salad, not pineapple pieces.

FWIW, I flew back in First yesterday (1/1) from Denver to EWR. In anticipation of a bad meal, I asked the gate agent if the catering issue was continuing. She insisted the kitchen was fully operational this week. Boarded the aircraft and immediately asked the welcoming Denver-based flight attendant. Same answer.

Enjoyed a great first class meal: some sort of beef tips in a tasty, tangy sauce, with hot mac & cheese on the side. Also a good-sized portion of pineapple pieces and cheese cake. Definitely not the burger in the pics above.

There was another chicken choice, which I didn't get a look at.

Safe travels.

PS -- just read timbre's post above --- funny: "one man's trash is another man's treasure"

These sound like hot bites pulled from the international roster. If so, they could have done that a month ago to at least improve things a bit. I'm sticking with - they want people to just get use to lesser meals in domestic first.

Fair point on the absence of a salad, but didn't miss it. This was lunch service. The pineapple pieces didn't look like they came from a package (served on UA china), nor did the dessert, but it was hard to tell.

On DEN-YYC now. Definitely not fixed. Flight listed as dinner. Choices are pre-packaged processed cheese or humus.
By now I truly believe it’s intentional

From what I hear the source of the Listeria scare was from the vegetables, so they'e in the process of changing vendors for that aspect of the operation. The construction is done and most everything is back to normal, supposedly. But salads and the like are still an issue for the time being.

So is this the new "normal"?

Supposedly a "Dinner" flight. There was no choice offered, just the BoB cheeseburger.

Wow. I "love" how they can't even be bothered to open the pineapple and put it in the bowl. Good grief.

How is this even acceptable?

Edited to add: Is the new norm as mentioned above on the DEN-EWR flight w/beef & pasta the upgrade for a mid-con but with still the pineapple and cheesecake dessert? Sad.

AND vegetables in general -- anything healthy and green and are not provided on the flights. It is still NOT fixed.

Wrote to 1kvoice, got a canned response and $125 e-cert.

I don't even care about the comp, I just want them to know these meal downgrades are noticed and are not okay.

New facilities are not going to prevent workers from not adhering to sanitary practices up and down the supply chain. That is likely why the vendors are changing.

Crazy no communcation and has been going on for this long. At least with the LAX issue the airlines communicated.

I guess on your flight, the FA's at least cared enough to dish out the pineapple for you and make an attempt at presenting it well.

I had the same meal on DEN-ORD last week, and the pineapple is definitely from a package, as they actually just threw the package in the bowl for me. See the pictures below your post - I think that's how it's being presented for most people.

If they're still serving this, the problem is not fixed. Or if it is, nobody has authorized the "on" switch. I'm FDA food safety-certified (poster thread #342 ). Everything on the tray was prepared and packaged elsewhere. Nothing coming out of the DEN kitchen is cooked or handled there. From an FDA-authored (2013) layman's guide: "Many foods have been associated with Listeria monocytogenes. Examples include raw milk, inadequately pasteurized milk, chocolate milk, cheeses (particularly soft cheeses), ice cream, raw vegetables, raw poultry and meats (all types), fermented raw-meat sausages, hot dogs and deli meats, and raw and smoked fish and other seafood. L. monocytogenes can grow in refrigerated temperatures, which makes this organism a particular problem for the food industry. Potential contamination sources include food workers, incoming air, raw materials, and foodprocessing environments. Among those, post-processing contamination at food-contact surfaces poses the greatest threat to product contamination." It isn't just a vendor(s) issue since the equipment is likely UA's. No fresh food from DEN until they are absolutely confident from (sorry) soup-to-nuts. (Cue the FT'er who's going to reply that UA serves the nuts first.) Bon appetit.

just boarded UA 1758 to Kona

I just asked the first class flight attendant if the Denver catering issues have been resolved. "Not yet. I just checked and you'll get either Pizza or a Hamburger."

So much for a full fare on an 8 hour flight. Pictures to come.

I am not a happy flyer today.

DEN Catering Issues through 2018

With yet another BoB burger on offer in first from Denver, the FA helpfully tells me that catering in DEN is not expected to be fixed until 2019...

Yay!
