Same here for tonight's DEN-LGA. Advertised as a dinner flight, no comunication or info from UA, offered the "snack" (FA's words) of Pizza or burger. Pizza was OK, but was expecting an actual dinner not the econ BoB.

On 2385 DEN-ORD now, breakfast is still Jimmy Dean or Cheerios.

I wrote to 1kvoice about the "meal," and received a call from them apologizing. They stated the catering issue "should" be resolved December 15. Also, as token of goodwill, they gave me a $200 ETC. We shall see ... maybe this is the new normal ...

I don't fly business often, I would be very mad if a long F or a J flight didn't have catering!

Providing all the F passengers didn't deplete the BOB supply before they started serving Y. :D

I received an apology from 1kvoice but was also directed to the premium cabin dining information on the web site for future expectations. The language there is so convoluted they manage to not cover lunch at all in the description (DEN-SFO, listed as ~2:55 hours). Also the definition of a snack is somewhat ambiguous. on red eyes this used to be a salami platter, warm sandwich or the burger. Anything less than this I thought fell under the "refreshments" category. If they serve no food I would be ok, I just want to know what to expect before I get on the plane.
|
The snack basket is Refreshments; anything more is Snack, although I will allow it is the most ambiguous meal. It also sounds like you had a Snack downgraded by DEN catering issues.
My personal worst for Snack was a single mini-package of almonds on whichever interior Hopper segment is coded Snack, but that's an exception. |

I think their definition of 'mid-December' is a bit different than mine. I have one more DEN flight next week so we'll see if I get Jimmy Dean-ed again.
"Your itin will sync automatically in 24 hours." "Your itin will re-sinc in 48 hours." "Due to unexpected turbulence we are going to need to remain seated, and therefore there will be NO beverage service on today's flight."Due to our flight being completely full today (vs incompletely full) we will not be able to do a pre-departure drink service." "I'm sorry but you are not allowed a full can of anything, but after I complete our service, I will come back and top off your cup." "Exit row window shades up please -- Please close ALL window shades to cool off the cabin." Blankets are for 1st class ONLY, but if I can locate one (wink) I'll bring it to you, if I have time." Just go onboard and if you clear, I'll come and get you (Only statement that's Mostly True)." "Welllllllllllll folks, we don't have a gate/it's occupied." (Reason posted for late arrival - weather/ATC) "Hope you don't mind, I told that nice couple that the lady could sit in your seat." "We may hit a few speed bumps so I'll be leaving the fasten seat belt light on forever." On, and on, and on, which insults a pax's intelligence. "The Denver kitchen is down for major construction, but since ya'll can't handle the truth, that's all you need to know, and the reason for you NOT getting a hot meal on your very expensive 1st class purchase is going to spinned anyway we see fit, as you are on a "Need to Know Basis!!!" ... and besides, "YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!!!!!" Btw, after touring the kitchen, I can honestly say that it is a first class operation, and as such the suits shoulda come clean as soon as there was an issue, instead of their ol' usual head in sand m.o.! |
Maybe they need some ground mustard powered?

Just out of curiosity, what's the wisdom on the best places in DEN to grab something to eat on the plane in place of absent catering? Looks like my DEN-LAX is blocked for Refreshments anyway
|
Unfortunately the DEN catering issues also seem to impact flights out of other cities where UA is double-catering the flights in DEN. Had a YYC-ORD yesterday afternoon on UA Express (E175), flight is 3.5 hours, listed in the app as lunch. The "lunch" options were hummus and crackers, or cheese and crackers. It seems the aircraft had gone DEN-YYC-ORD, so was double-catered in DEN. Unfortunate that they aren't arranging to have catering in YYC in instances where they aren't able to get meal catering in DEN, given that there are adequate catering facilities in YYC as an AC hub.
