Flights to/from DEL are temporarily suspended due to air quality issues. Tonight's 83 DEL-EWR is the last for the next few days.

Yikes! The PM 2.5 levels have been over 800, which puts Beijing (currently < 100) to shame. I wouldn't WANT to go to Delhi with that going on, but I sure would want to get out!

When pmUA was running RTW services back in the 90's there were often week-long, 12-hour delays (around this time of year) on the HKG-DEL-HKG sectors due to the 'fog'. Seems like today, with 14 hour nonstops out of EWR, it is prudent to cancel rather than deal with diversions day after day.

Hi, does anyone know why UA 180 HKG-EWR on Nov 13 (Mon) is already showing as 1 hr 50 mins late?
This is my first flight with UA. I wonder how reliable their delay estimates are? When do they usually start to offer meal vouchers, rebooking etc?

Seeing as we are nearly at mid November, we are currently at 77 pages of the "Consolidated Int'l UA Delayed/Cancelled flights". Also I have noticed that a good number of delays are in the 1-2 hours range which IMHO is not too awful. Last year we got to 119 pages of delays/cancellations. So fingers crossed, even if we end 2017 with 100 pages of this thread, we are still about 17% better than 2016. Is UA improving their OnTime ops?

This thread was way more interesting when it was people describing their actual personal experiences rather than just pulling info off FlightAware.

Not as bad as some, but UA 2423 YVR-SFO tonight was delayed about 2 hrs following an aborted takeoff. According to my wife who's aboard, explanation from the flight deck: "we have a light." They went back to the gate, and eventually let people deplane.
Unfortunately, it means she gets into SFO too late for her connection to MRY. There are no hotels available within a reasonable distance, and the next flight to MRY gets isn't until about noon tomorrow, so, looks like she's cabbing it.

UA 998 BRU to EWR, on a rolling 3-hour delay today, 11/15.
Same plane that was cancelled Tuesday due to maintenance. The replacement plane for most of the displaced passengers also left 1.5 hours late.

That's why flights have been so expensive at T=14days lately... I had a streak of $250 r.t. tickets from Denver, but this week was more like $700, and I booked almost 2 weeks ago. At least weekend hotels are quite reasonable for this weekend.
