If UA doesn't replace the ps units with A321's, they should just drop the pretense of "premium service" on these routes and be done with it.

If all the sUA p.s. 752s drop off next year, though, can they even order the A321s now to get them in time? I would also be surprised if they've drawn up a seat map with the new Polaris seats for a narrowbody as well.

I guess Kirby is familiar with what the A321 can do on transcon. So possible they do that with high J configurations.

Please keep us posed on the 75K retirement. I would be nice to have one last ride on the pmUA PW powered 752.

If the sUA 752s are retired and no sub fleet is created to replace it, then subbing international widebodies on p.s. would make a lot of sense. That's essentially what DL does with a mix of 767s, 752s, and the occasional A330.

Agree, still thinking 2-3 777HD is way too large for p.s. route.

Looking at schedules between Feb and May, a intl 772 operates morning eastbound and afternoon westbound and a 77W operates early morning westbound and noon eastbound. This should be a good example if UA flies less 757s

And anticipate 777HD going on some additional routes (instead of p.s.) when more join the subfleet:
SFO-BOS-SFO will be 2* daily
SFO-IAD-SFO

1. I don't think UA will order Airbus aircrafts (like A321) unless very very very necessary..
2. I remember, in a UA annual/quarter report, UA will use 739ER to replace 752??
3. Maybe can use 788 to fly p.s. (I think UA order too many 788..) or even TATL.. although UA said that they will extend 763s life..

for reference:
2-class 763: 30/49/135 =214 total
788: 36/70/113 = 219 total

Yes absolutely all of the non-Wifi equipped CR7s will be going, with a few others as well. Same basic percentage as this year's retirements.

And my opinion on the ps debate... i think with the sUA 752s gone (which is inevitable by end of 2018) UA would benefit from either an A321 order; or else substitute a few trips each direction with International-equipped 77E/763/789/etc. The HD-772 has no place on the ps routes (which UA currently seems to recognise).

In terms of operators of CR7s, all the removals concentrate on Skywest, not Mesa and GoJet? Looks like Skywest is the only one receiving additional E7Ws in coming years

Correct. Mesa and GoJet have contracts on their CR7s that don't begin to expire until mid-2018 and later. Skywest' CR7s have been expiring from contract since early 2016. Of note, the UA CR7s that have expired have been re-contracted with both AA and DL so Skywest isn't losing out on any flying.

There are E175 deliveries this year to both Skywest and Republic.

789:
N29968 delivery flight 2187/ 6-Jan

772:
N775UA enroute to HKG 2123/2178 5/6-Jan
N787UA scheduled to enter XMN 2152/6-Jan
N774UA will ferry HKG-GUM-HNL-SFO 2125/2161 7/8-Jan

Interesting re-config duration for 777As:
Line 1:
2480(52days)-2476(51days)-2481(41days)-2477(40days)-2471(41days)-2469 all entry and exit dates sequential except first one.

Line 2:
2478(60days)-2474(61days)-2475

Line 3:
2379(61days)-2512

Will see how they proceed with the 3rd 77H given the J-seat counts

I see. Not familiar with fleet strategy of AA/DL, what did they actually retire as over 30 CR7s now flying AA/DL, not to mention additional CR2s ?

I have no idea what they retired as I don't follow those fleets. What I can say is that DL has about 90 CR7s and AA approx 76. So they are by no means new to the fleets.

Absolutely agree, the sUA 752 went from 3 class to 2 class with AVOD on the entire plane, dont really understand why they dump them so fast, especially they spend a lot of money to rewire the entire plane in order to have AVOD.

The 77G, at least for those that were 77D, originally have AVOD on the entire plane when it was 3 class, now strip out everything in Y, no difference than any domestic planes now.

I'm here at NRT and 2372 is parked at gate 36 with no jetway attached. Any ideas as to why it's here? I'm on 874 tonight to GUM so no shortage of 777s here.
