GPU extension error - worth complaining?
I started this year w/ 2 GPUs that were going to expire end 1/31/2016.
Since I requalified for 1k and GS in 2016, I decided to book an int'l flight EWR-LHR for late March, and request an extension.
MP inexplicably extended the GPUs out to 1/31/2018. Based on my good fortune, I decided to push the flight out to June. However in making the change with the GS agent, the expiration date of the GPU's explicably flipped to 4/30/2016.
So now I'm forced to use some of my "new" GPUs to upgrade June flight.
Fortunately, I was able to take a screenshot and document this. When I called MP to complain all they would say was that it was due to an error, and they wouldn't honor the 1/2018 expiration.
I'm pretty pissed and am considering writing a letter to complain. Do you think it's worth it? Has this happened to anyone else?
Now I understand that carriers make mistakes, but when they do, I would expect them to either honor their commitment or at least find another way to make up for it. Especially with some of their most loyal flyers. What do you think? Am I being unreasonable?

A friend status matched to DL a few years ago but didn't end up flying with them very much. She wrote them an e-mail saying "hey DL CS, it says here in this message you sent me that my status was good until 2017 -- can that be right?" (She matched in late 2014 or early 2015, I forget.) They wrote back saying "oops, that was a typo on our part, our match was good until Jan 2016. But because it was our mistake, we're going to honor the deal and have extended your FO status to 2017". That was great CS, and I have seen other examples of DL making a mistake but being very polite about honoring it (memorably the $40 F fares a few Christmases ago). I have seen fewer recent examples of UA intentionally choosing to honor mistakes like that.

Not expecting to keep the GPU but more like an acknowledgment of the mistake and some gesture for the inconvenience.

Consider my expectations adequately tempered after years of flying UA. I was more curious if folks have gotten traction doing so and whether it was worth picking up my pen.
