Previous thread - Global First Lounge (IFL / GFL) Access Questions and Experiences

:-: United's Global First Lounges located at LHR, IAD, SFO, HKG and NRT are for the use of passengers traveling in United's Global First or in International First Class on a Star Alliance member aircraft with more than two classes of service departing that day from that airport.
NOTE: Global First Lounge at ORD has closed. Polaris lounge Chicago is now open, including dining. The Global First Lounge at LHR closes at 18:00, as confirmed by United via phone. The website currently omits this information.

This reconfirmed per UA Insider - see http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/21700252-post535.html

Passengers must be holding a same day ticket for flights departing to/from a Trans Atlantic, Trans Pacific, Southern South America, Africa or a Middle East destination. Passengers connecting to/from other United/United Express flights will be admitted as long as the above requirements are met.

Global Services members can also use Global First Lounges when traveling in BusinessFirst or p.s. (EWR-LAX/SFO) BusinessFirst cabin.

A GS who arrives in BF or GF will be admitted to the GFL. This does not apply to a GS flying non-UA metal.

Any passenger holding a boarding pass for travel within 24 hours in UA GF will have access to the GFL at their departure and connecting airports.

Not on arrival without an onward connecting flight.

Is a GF escort to be expected for connecting flights at any United-served airport, or just some? The last time I connected FRA-SFO-HNL, there was an escort, but I thought that was just because of a delay. I never had escorts on previous GF connections, so perhaps this is relatively new?

Wondering whether I should look for an escort for my upcoming LHR-LAX-HNL flight?

Thanks!

Sorry, I was just referring to the lounge access issue, not the escort. Since the OP is terminating at PVG, there's no lounge access.

As I understand it, personal meet and greet is hit or miss. I've never had one in my limited GF experiences. Others who fly GF more frequently may have a different answer.

BTW....the shower is connected to the UC and anyone in the Club can use it.
Well aware of that (GFL access), ended up GF AMS-ORD (was originally BF AMS-IAH). Guess it's not technically an Arrivals lounge, rather just a UC-assocated shower facility like CO PC in IAH.
Congrats on your impending lifetime GS btw, LAXOGG!

Global First Lounge (IFL / GFL) Access Questions and Experiences [2015 forward]

I know this is a First World Problem, but knowledgeable insights are appreciated:

Just visited SFO GFL lounge tonight and found the food offerings basically unchanged from previous visits. Flying out GF from SFO on 7/28, and thinking of trying the Silver Kris lounge. Is that an option, and how does it compare?

Thanks.

The SQ lounge @ SFO is small and so so food (better than UC but doubt better the GFL) -- while a lot of discussion about not allowing UA *G on domestic itins, there is discussion about the SQ lounge and food in http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/unite...-domestic.html .

I'm mostly hitting the Amex Centurion Lounge for food & bev, then coming down to GFL for quiet/work. SFO GFL quite disappointing for food over past few years, especially now considering how wonderful the LHR GFL is!

We didn't get one connecting to a GF flight.

Dunno in SFO. LHR SQ lounge was quite good, especially the Sling made at the bar!

Got into a very bright, airy SQ lounge without any delay. We are the only ones here.
Hot items missing. Nice fruit display and cold cuts, cheese, muesli and salad. Great Nespresso machine.

As an empty lounge, prefer this to othe UA basement GFL in SFO

Edit: Now in GFL. Food offering much better than last night. .

Aer Lingus Guest?

Hello!

I am flying in the next month from LHR to SFO in Global First (O), and am only a Silver on UA. A friend of mine is flying out of LHR at around the same time on Aer Lingus (Economy) to Dublin. Will I be able to guest him into the GFL even though Aer Lingus is not officially in the Star Alliance?

Also, the LHR GFL opens at 5am, right?

Thanks in advance for the help!
