Every airline I have been on in the world demonstrates seatbelts and shows where the exits are. Also they show oxygen masks and floatation devices, slides etc. How they present it may different but the basics are the same everywhere.

That's my experience too. So what? Are you trying to say this is evidence in favor of your claim about FAA regulations?

So look at page 2 item 3 of Appendix 1 of what YOU posted. It is all about seatbelts. Thank you for proving my point.

It does not require a seatbelt demonstration.

Flight attendants or other appropriate crewmembers must brief passengers on the method of fastening, tightening, and unfastening seatbelts.

I guess the word must does not mean require in your book.

I guess I know the difference between a briefing and a demonstration.

Nevermind. You are nitpicking. Passengers must be briefed about seatbelts. I was under the assumption by your posts and the words you used, that you were saying it is not required. Demonstrating, briefing, whatever must be done with regard to seatbelts, it is required.

These two are one, and according to Guamanian news media, it took off and returned to GUM.

Late posting but just got back to US.

Friday Apr 10. UA 989 IAD FRA. 777. 2 hours late due to maintenance. Missed LH connection to Billund, Denmark. Got a flight 4 hours later. Not too bad considering.
