Currently on UA 953 from MUC to ORD - landed 15 minutes early and now sitting here 20 minutes late because there are no open gates - will obviously be late and have to run to make my connection - was hoping for a day without the typical UA drama - what was I thinking?

I'm curious (honestly not sniping) - is it actually UA's fault that the international terminal gates are full? Does UA have their own dedicated gates there?

I take this flight monthly and this seems to happen most in summer - was mainly a statement on UA drama lol but can't actually be sure it's really their fault this time....

Not a good night for the 757s to Europe
Delayed on 7/3:
UA23 EWR-DUB Estimated 45 min MX
UA36 EWR-EDI Estimated 55 min. Late arriving aircraft, went IAH-LAX-EWR, arrived LAX on time but left 1 hr 53 min late
UA62 EWR-MAD Estimated 30 min. Late arriving aircraft, but saying SFO-EWR that arrived on 7/2...
UA493 IAH-SJD Estimated 51 min. Late arriving aircraft from GDL, which was delayed for MX

Today's UA 921 IAH-LHR switched to a 3-class 763, rare out of IAH.

Also UA 5 LHR-IAH (Dreamliner) cxld due to MX --on further research, UA 4 didn't go over last night in the first place

in addition to the IAH-LHR-IAH cancellation due to aircraft maintenance

UA20 GRU-IAH 788 cancelled due to aircraft maintenance as well

United 922 delayed today, July 4th, AGAIN by 10 hours. EWR-LHR, a day flight becomes a night flight. Really, really insane.

Nothing like spending July 4th with two $7 food vouchers at EWR!

7/1/15 - UA47 FRA-IAH 8.5 hours delay

diverted to DFW due to thunderstorms (decision made approx 90 mins prior to arrival) due to insufficient fuel for holding

Landed DFW 17:30 - a quick splash and dash had us buttoned up and engines starting after 35 mins -

then a/c in cargo hold went u/s, then pax had medical issue, then CBP held up paramedics boarding, then animals in hold became an issue and had to be off-loaded, then we hit 3-hr ground limit, then gate not prepared for 777 (no bag loaders), then flight deck crew timed-out, then agents at DFW gate had no stock for printing, then replacement crew from IAH were delayed ex-IAH....we jumped ship at that point (10:45pm) and had them re-book on AA to final destination (LAX) the following day

only about 6 carry-on only pax got through arrivals processing and back through security at DFW before a TSA honcho made a fuss about pax not being allowed to use their FRA-IAH boarding pass to gain access past security at DFW - rest of pax were stuck awaiting bags (no loaders) and at TSA where UA couldn't issue new BPs due to no card stock

UA47 eventually arrived IAH with new crew at 02:13 - 8hrs+ late

quote of the day from DFW agents, 'we're just a lil' ole' country out station here, you can't expect too much now'. Props to cabin crew Larry & Jeff who were cheerful and customer oriented enough to make up for the other 7 surly and mean-spirited 'gentlepeople' we encountered

this is a prime example of how UA allows relatively simple things like this to snowball out of control. it sounds like a few bad luck items cropped up (medical issue and resulting CBP fall out), but things like this really make you scratch your head. if they elected to divert to DFW at T-90 mins, i'm wondering why they didn't divert to ORD or DEN instead where handling the issue would have been a lot easier for UA. maybe those were simply too far away with the available fuel load.

922 has been a night flight quite a bit lately

https://flightaware.com/live/flight/UAL922/history
Today, 7/1, 6/24, 6/19, the 6/13-6/14 double whammy seems to have kicked off this recent trend.

Meanwhile the IAD flight (UA122) on an sCO 752 has at least gone during the day all the way back through March (latest arrival is exactly 2 hours late at 23:07, it is still a United flight after all). Don't everyone rush to fly it at once, otherwise they'll upgauge it to a 763

Supposed to leave 11:10.

First, problem with the ACU, 2:50 delay. Sweet.

Go to runway. One of the engine has a light. Everyone go back to gate. Deplane too. Ship #3006 is done.

Everyone waiting for news. Was supposed to come 5 minutes ago.

I can hear spinning wheels in Chicago, but Newark has no idea what we will do.

Better maintenance. A chance we would like. A lot. Plane was at gate since 4:15 am this morning, couldn't they have prepped it up to go to NRT?

Perhaps I am being unreasonable?

Oh, now they are going to repair #3006.

Better late then never, I suppose.

Oh, and now the crew timed out.

Telling us this will be one hour.

I smell something not quite appetizing here... one hour to get a new crew, really?

Sorry to hear about your situation.

They don't leave the engines and APU running all night while the aircraft sits at the gate. Presumably everything was okay when they turned things off last night. The next time they are started, that's a frequent time for problems to show up.
