See below for FAA and UA announcements on service to TLV. This is a dynamic situation and is not a specific-to-UA situation.

For this thread PLEASE only focus on the status of UA operations to TLV. And for advice to those needed to make alternative travel arrangements in the meantime.

ANYTHING, ANYTHING AT ALL, that drifts away from that or talks about larger political matters has been and will be deleted. There are other better forums for those discussions.

Local Media Update

Local English media quoting air officials are saying that UA and US (AA) will re-start service tomorrow

BA and CSA Czech Airlines haven't stopped according to the same official

a look at united.com shows both 84 and 90 on schedule for their Wed departures. Guess we'll have to wait a few more hours to see if they stick.

No mention of the FAA and if they will re-new or cancel their ban

Delta and LH to continue ban on Wednesday, regardless of FAA decision later this morning. Will UA follow Delta?

They wont do anything till the FAA speaks and the 24 hrs ends apx @ Noon. Once the FAA speaks then UA will huddle together and decide what it will do. I believe DL has already said they dont care what the FAA says they arent flying in

UA seems to be awaiting FAA decision, but also could follow Delta and suspend Wed. regardless of FAA.

I spoke to the UA station manager in TLV. He seemed pretty confident that barring a last minute change by the FAA, flights were resume tomorrow.

He said that UA has indicated that as long as the FAA allows, they have no intent of canceling, and that he believed (based on conversations with UA,) that the FAA isn't planning on extending the ban, after consultations with the Israeli authorities.

We'll obviously see soon enough whether he's correct or not, so simply time will tell.

It seems that UA really wants to operate the flights. DL is "suspending indefinitely" while UA is playing by ear.

there are other options that would allow a full lifting, but I as I said up thread the FAA really had no choice but to continue the present ban

All three airlines - UA, DL, & US - want to operate the flights as soon as (safely/politically) possible. All enjoy that FAA is presently taking the heat from them not having to choose to fly or not. At this point, the only difference between playing it by ear and "suspending indefinitely" is PR. Does the airline wish to be seen as responsive to customer demand or cautious.

well when DL says 'indefinitely' I highly doubt if and when the FAA removes the Ban that DL will jump back in. OK if the war is over thats something else.Im just not sure that had the FAA lifted its ban today that DL would have been back flying in the next day or 2, while mostly UA would have depending what they did with the 4 planes , not sure what US would do, I feel theyd follow UA

I suspect that DL would quickly - but not immediately re-enter the market. DL know's it is, on the whole, a profitable market and wouldn't want to loose market position to their competitors. However, I wouldn't be surprised to see both UA & DL (US is already down to one flight per day) offer less weekly capacity after the backlog is cleared until the market demand fully restores itself.
