Delta (and US and UA) cancel all flights to TLV indefinitely

A rocket landed near Ben-Gurion airport today, leading Delta to cancel all flights to TLV indefinitely, that's per AP. Haaretz is reporting that US and US canceled as well.

Here's the little info available so far:

Its breaking news so very little info available right now....

Maybe we'll see some 747 JFK domestic flights in between the NRT run?

Just announced on news that all Delta flights to Tel Aviv are suspended. Flight diverted to Paris after rocket attack in Israel.

Mondays flight was diverted to CDG, its still in the air. Flying an extra 90minutes in fact, back towards CDG. Must be flying on reserves

I'm surprised that the flight would have so much extra fuel on board. I would have expected a diversion to IST or ATH or even FCO/MXP rather than CDG.

Diversion to CDG is more cost effective. DL doesn't care about the people they just want to position the aircraft better and make it easier for people to enter the country...

Based on FlightAware, who's international data is admittedly not the most accurate, it appears to have turned around just a little past halfway between CDG and TLV right around the 'heel' of Italy. With the remaining fuel, plus the reserves, it should have had more than enough. CDG offers better SkyTeam connections to other destinations than IST, ATH, or the Italian airports.

Additionally, DL can fairly easily fly the 747 back from CDG as a normal flight to any of its hubs rather than trying to find a 747 load of customers from the aforementioned airports.

I'm flying UA to EWR tonight and my wife and daughter were supposed to join Thursday. Should be interesting. This will likely be the end of any loyalty I had to DL.
