Flight credit in irrops situation
For lifetime miles, again generally just the originally booked credit
- For diverted and then continued to destination -- generally just the standard credit, no extra for the diversion. Some possibility if diversion is overnight and a special section is scheduled, then separate flight credit
- For very indirect flight plan (such as to avoid weather) -- nope (especially in the case of fare based crediting)
- For return to base -- it is as if the flight never happened.
- Planned rerouting, With fare based credit, no change but should get the extra segments credit. If the rerouting reduces the segment credit, request ORC.
For lifetime miles, again generally just the originally booked credit
- For return to base, never happen
- For formal rerouting, should receive reroute credit, if less ORC
Mileage credit for IRROPS / diversions / return to airport / .... ?

Well - I'd write 1KVoice and ask for a refund on the aborted segment - although you may be disappointed in the amount.
I'd attach your car rental receipt and I think you'd have a decent chance of getting that reimbursed for a flight credit.

Yeah I don't think the segment is worth much. Flying to Hawaii that segment was worth 16 PQP so I wouldn't expect more than $20.
I guess the real question is if I can get the PQF or lifetime 500 miles. PQF probably won't be needed but you never know. 500 miles would get me 0.05% closer to a million miles. Not much but it all adds up.

However, the ETC for the cancellation is a really possibility.

Do diversions count towards status?
If a plane diverts, for whatever reason, do you get the extra miles towards mm status or pqf’s for the extra take off and landing?
what about trips to nowhere- out and back?

If the flight returns to the airport, no earning on that flight either, since technically you went nowhere.

Generally not. If a diversion continues to the destination as the same flight, it post as the original segment. Very occasionally, the continuation is cancelled and a new flight designation is used, that may post as two flights.
A return to base is the worse, essentially the flight never happened.
Will merge with a thread with examples

This is exactly what happened on my flight that they dumped the fuel and went back to the airport due to a flap issue. Flight was cancelled, and we took a refund to rebook with another carrier.
