I don't know if anyone has already observed this: when you book tickets together on one RLN, they get the same offer. So myself and three sons got an offer for:

60,000 miles at $1380 + $4,800 for PQM ($.08/PQM)

You have the option to take this offer individually. So I could have just done it for one of my sons.

Then I split the records to improve our GPU upgrade chances. My offer stayed the same. The son with the 1k status also stayed the same.

But the offer for the son with Gold status went to:

60,000 miles at $1380 + $8400 for PQM (!!) ($.21/PQM)

For the son with Silver status, the offer changed to:

40,000 miles $920 + $4800 for PQM (!) ($.12/PQM)

I guess the strategy should be obvious from this.

StarFlyer,

Any idea why they extended the PQD exemption to Pres Plus cardholders? Someone in another forum said it was due to the FPQMs; however, I believe the more recent MP Club card also offers FPQMs? No?

I'm glad I have the card and recognize its value, but I would like to know how I got to be so lucky

Management's preference for ex-CO members?

No, the Club card definitely does not have FPQM.

We Presidential Plus cardholders are entitled to special treatment because we have demonstrated our loyalty to United. And everybody knows United rewards loyalty.

In general no, but there was an option for some previous PresPlus customers to convert to the Club Card and keep the FPQM option. But no for new customers.

WineCountry,

Thank you for confirming this. I was beginning to think I made this up in my sleep. Thank GOD I didn't fall for this ploy.

RNE,

I have always thought the underlying intent of this whole merger was to poo-poo in the face of the sUA employees and loyalists and reward the sCO. The recent furlough of sUA flight attendants and now the details of this make me even more suspicious.

Combined 14.3 c/mile
How is the above RDM at 2.3 cpm? should it not be 1.2cpm?

4200-mile roundtrip CLE-IAH-PHX booked for February today; being offered 5000 or 10,000 extra miles. Both are 2.9 cents per RDM and 9.0 cents per PQM. Seems a little steep, but doubt it goes down.

I have the Pres Plus card so I'm not too worried about PQD (at least this year!) so accumulating the miles is the only thing.

Anymore it seems 2.3¢/RDM is a common asking price.
