Also, re the other segments, the classic response is that CPU availability is not the same as R availability. Sounds like you got a great agent, though.

My understanding of the bug is that, yes, it will cause segments to clear (up to) 24 hours early, even earlier than preceding segments.

Thanks spin - I don't look at that thread much 'cause there is zero chance I will ever make GS.
UA is cutting capacity, but still essentially has the same amount of aircraft flying the same number of routes... (more or less).
Where are they redeploying the bigger aircraft? Because, I agree, I am seeing more RJ flights on the schedules of my usual flights.

That's my weekly route, and $330RT is an amazing fare even if booked well in advance, for 2 weeks out it's unbelievable. As i look through my spreadsheet, I've only booked one ticket at or below that price so far in 2013, and that was booked 45 days in advance.
I was on that redeye last night, and got the CPU at about T-36. I didn't get the CPU on Friday evening though into PHX, but that flight was full of GS travelers (assuming the dozens of folks that pre-boarded were in fact all GS). All in all, I've cleared 13 upgrades of 22 domestic legs so far this year.

Two segments on an itinerary where I'm a 1k companion (should trump my gold obviously).
R4/R8 and still not clearing for either of us... well under 72 hours let alone 96.

My LGA-ORD-LGA flights this week were F4/F5 all the way through the UG windows, yet R0 - then they magically opened up the R space at T-23 and dumped everyone into the rest of the seats.
Yeah that's pretty bad

Waiting for CPU for UA1635 PDX-DEN on Friday. It shows R9 and RN9 but doesn't seem to be any CPU activity.

Easy. I am 0 for 9 this year (and four of those were in January when I was still a 1K).
All were mainline flights in CA between SFO and LAX or SAN. Last year, these were guaranteed upgrades. I had never missed one. Now it's not even close.

I have had a bunch of flights lately not clear until very close to departure, even though R>0 ever since the booking window opened. Is there anything that can be done? I've called united on a few of them and they just say it's "automatic" and they can't do anything.
A good example is DEN-SEA on 4/30. R=9 and has been that way since the booking window opened, and now we're just 1.5 days away. The longer these flights sit at R>0 the more chance for first class seats to go away with upgrade instruments.
