As a clarification, UA BF fromLHR-IAH just became available with super saver miles. I probably would have chosen it if available with original booking. I am a little concerned about QR not being in the *A and having any problems along the way....especially since they are getting out of the share agreement on Sept 15.

SFO and NRT much nicer.
ORD nicer.
Have not been to the other ones.
For me, hard product is way more important than soft product so GF is a big step up from business and BF.

I am going home to IAH from HKG In October. I currently have a *A mileage ticket from HKG-DOH and DOH-IAH in C class on QR. 1 stop, arriving in IAH at a tough traffic time, 5:30. I could do TG F from HKG to BKK and BKK to LHR in F class, and LHR to IAH in UA BUsinessfirst and get in to Houston a few hours earlier and avoid traffic. What a trade off!!!!!! TG f class is better than QR c, but the last 10 hours are in UA BF. Good trade off? I want to go through customs in Houston. Worth it?

Me too! Although I rarely splurge for GF, it is really nice for that reason. Also, another thing is that there are 3 storage compartments that you can get to without standing up. Very nice during taxi/takeoff/landing phases of flight. In BF, everything has to be stored above, except for maybe your glasses and a book

I thought it was unintentional at the time, but during a call to reservations last night, the phone agent kept referring to my upgraded seat as First, while I continued to refer to it as a Business seat.

I always fly Global First internationally. Recently, I took my first BF flight on UA in the past 4 years because of late travel and no seats left. To be honest, it was fine! I was 15A in C upper deck vs 2A in F which I usually have. Seat seemed about the same to me in terms of sleeping comfort. Actually, with side bin, there was MORE room for storage than I am used to.
Only downside for me: not able to use F lounge. But in FRA where my flight originated, this was a non-issue as there is no F lounge there!
So I would say do not take GF over BF if there is much of any cost in terms of dollars, GPUs or time. Stick with BF.

Global first vs new bus/first? Worth it?
Does anyone have first hand experience in global first vs the new business frt in the herringbone formation ? Is it worth the miles or cash to go global first? They sure seem like they're close now. For an 8.5 hr us-eu flight. Vs a longer haul route?

Having read the quoted post, I do wonder if it is worth it; I've never flown int'l F. And even if I do the upgrade, with only O2, it would be my wife & child getting that upgrade; I'd be on the waitlist, and I may be "stuck" in C which could actually be an issue if my wife needs help in F.
But I'd still be asking this if O3, so I would appreciate feedback! I was sad to see this thread being dormant for several months, and hope to read more input.
Thanks

I'm "reopening" this thread because our PNR of 3 PAX is flying C on UA926 (SFO-FRA) on 747-400 upper deck. But with O2 (C>F) for $500 & 20K RDM, I'm pondering this expensive yet possibly decadent "upgrade."

Global First is a lot better.
In addition to more comfortable seat, UA serves Dom Perignon and black caviar, and FAs in the GF cabin are required to wear bathing suits for the duration of the flights. None of them are older than twenty five years and they are required to keep virginity as a continued condition of their employment.
Upon completion of the flight, if you're male, the prettiest FA accompanies you as a personal escort to the best strip bar in town and completes the night in your hotel room performing lap dances and playing flute. And if you're female, the youngest pilot takes you to the suite at ritz or waldorf astoria for you to enjoy a private performance of Thunder from Down Under. In the end, you get to choose two guys to be your pages for the night.
Overall, a very enjoyable experience, and, so to say, the best bang for your buck.

You forgot the limo service to/from the airport.
