MCT for EWR (2012)
https://www.newarkairport.com/at-airport/connecting-flights
United Airlines operates an "air side" shuttle bus between Terminals A and C from 4:00AM to 12:00AM (midnight). In addition, United also operates a shuttle bus connecting Terminals A and C to terminal B (pier 3, used by Star Alliance carriers) from 1:00PM to 11:00PM, but not in the opposite direction (shuttle does not board at Terminal B). The shuttle bus is available at gate A28 and C70 as illustrated in the image above. The shuttle drops off passengers at the terminal B through the service entry, that requires walking up 2 flights of stairs - there is no elevator. Only the front bus doors will open for alighting at terminal B.This service is free and you will not have to go through TSA security again. Please note this shuttle is operated at the sole responsibility of United Airlines and is subject to modification at their discretion.

I'd love some advice. It's been a loooong time since I was in EWR or flying UA, but next week I have a two-hour connection at EWR. I'm arriving from a USA city and then departing to DUB in Polaris. The inbound and outbound flights will be in terminal C. Given what I've read lately, I gather the Polaris Lounge will be horribly crowded when I'm there (5:30 to 7:30 pm or so). Looking for some food and a decent place to sit for an hour or so. I'm wondering about taking the bus over to B for the LH Senator or even Virgin Clubhouse. I'm *G and have access to the Virgin lounge too. Coming back to C, I can walk quickly and I have Clear & Pre check.
Is it a dumb idea to go to B for these lounges? Will the Polaris lounge be better than recent reports I've seen? Or should I just bail on lounges and buy food?
Thanks much, EWR and UA experts!

LH lounge is small and crowded for the evening LH flights.

Polaris lounge will be better than the hassle of transferring terminals and re-clearing security. LH and SK lounges are nothing special and not worth the effort. Same goes for the VS lounge.

Guidance on EWR Terminal C Customs after Int'l Arrival
Hi Folks:
I'll be arriving into EWR from Europe with my family soon. I've only ever arrived into Terminal B. But looking at my flight it looks like it typically arrives into Terminal C international arrivals.
Can someone tell me a little bit about Terminal C's customs and immigration? I assume there is a Mobile Passport lane, correct?
What about after going through customs and immigration? Does it dump you back out into the regular, public security lines? Or is there a shortened security queue like at IAD C concourse?
My family doesn't have TSA Precheck so I'm hoping we don't get dumped out into general public security line in EWR Terminal C lobby. That can be a nightmare.

2) You will come out landside at the arrival level, so you will have to go up to departure level for security with everyone else.
Also, there is no guarantee of Terminal C arrival. It can be C or B. Some UA fights, especially later in the day, are sure C arrival due to B gates being occupied for departures. Either way, you would have to reclear regular security. Also, your connecting flight might also be leaving out of Terminal A.

Also, I'm not sure I'm following the logic about Terminal C security. Even if you arrive in Terminal B, if your flight is out of Terminal C, you will be going via Airtrain to C and then joining the same security line (doing something highly unusual such as going to A notwithstanding). So it's the same headache, but with an extra Airtrain.

Terminal B INTL arrival to Terminal A or C departure:
Immigration/custom -> landside -> terminal transfer -> security
Terminal C INTL arrival to Terminal C departure:
Immigration/custom -> landside -> terminal transfer -> security (save the terminal transfer but otherwise the same process)
Terminal C INTL arrival to Terminal A departure:
Immigration/custom -> landside -> terminal transfer -> security
or,
Immigration/custom -> landside -> security -> airside bus transfer from C to A

Here are the likely scenarios
Terminal B INTL arrival to Terminal A or C departure:
Immigration/custom -> landside -> terminal transfer -> security
Terminal C INTL arrival to Terminal C departure:
Immigration/custom -> landside -> terminal transfer -> security (save the terminal transfer but otherwise the same process)
Terminal C INTL arrival to Terminal A departure:
Immigration/custom -> landside -> terminal transfer -> security
or,
Immigration/custom -> landside -> security -> airside bus transfer from C to A
Terminal B INTL arrival to Terminal A or C departure:
Immigration/custom -> landside -> terminal transfer -> security
Terminal C INTL arrival to Terminal C departure:
Immigration/custom -> landside -> terminal transfer -> security (save the terminal transfer but otherwise the same process)
Terminal C INTL arrival to Terminal A departure:
Immigration/custom -> landside -> terminal transfer -> security
or,
Immigration/custom -> landside -> security -> airside bus transfer from C to A
some follow up questions:
1)would you go through C security and take Bus to A?
2) or would you take air train to A and go through A security?
3) and if you have checked bags and prefer #2 would you carry your bags to A to recheck or drop at C?
and would any of the above change if you had a tight connection?

Thanks. I think a C international arrival to A transfer is likely what will happen.
some follow up questions:
1)would you go through C security and take Bus to A?
2) or would you take air train to A and go through A security?
3) and if you have checked bags and prefer #2 would you carry your bags to A to recheck or drop at C?

2) If you want to stretch your legs, by all means take the airtrain to (near) A and then clear security at A.
3) Checked bags should be able to be checked immediately after you clear customs & immigration at either C or B.

DP from two weeks ago regarding the United shuttle bus from Terminal A to Terminal C about two weeks ago around 3pm.
- The shuttle is clearly signposted in Terminal A
- The greeter asked where I needed to get to (Terminal C) but didn't actually check my BP
- I asked what the frequency was and they said "every 5 minutes". Practically, when I got on my bus there was another one behind us waiting for us to leave, and another one that had just arrived and was letting off passengers
- The bus ride itself took about 10 minutes (with a stop at B) and was very scenic (for aviation geeks, at least )

It looks my intl flight typically arrives in C and the connection to DCA is typically from C as well, but no guarantees of course. How is the C international arrivals with Global Entry these days? I have never arrived at EWR intl with United actually. Only SAS in B and that goes way back into 90s and early 00s.
I suppose that we are thrown into the general security after arrivals and have to find the TSA precheck, which seems to be in the middle downstairs if I remember correctly? There is not any special international to domestic security?
At IAD GE is awful. About 6 months ago they only had 3 machines working and a month ago it took my significant other nearly 30 minutes to get through! At LAX they seemed to have an infinite number of facial recognition cameras in 2021 and 2022.

You will come out of the C3 landside, as only select C3 gates have the ability for international arrivals. Regional jets should be in C, as A is only handling mainline currently if I am not mistaken.
