Anyway, what I did was complete the setup of my profile and then I went back and clicked on the "Forgot your PIN?" link. It showed me that phrase I had just customized to remember my PIN (of course, that didn't help because I don't know what UA had set my new PIN to) but there was a button or link which read, "Still don't remember your PIN?" and I clicked on it.

It then asked another verification question and then I was able to enter the new PIN.

good luck if you don't already have a pin. A couple months ago, I tried to get my CO pin and it took 5.5 HOURS on hold, and then mailing in copies of passports/drivers license and proof of current or previous address.

Flying Monday on a ticket that is out of sync due to an upgrade. Will try braving the queue later today.

p.s. Anyone know the avg wait on the GS line currently?

Same here. I hung up after 30 minute wait around 2:30 PST.

Also, RE: Post 491, I got a flurry of expertflyer seat availability emails this morning but could not change to those seats - expertflyer shows them as "blocked" now, something I've never seen before.

In the SEA B gates UC now.. the checkin lobby was a zoo for non elites, and even long lines for Golds & below. But the 1K and GS lines were empty..went right to the front...agent told me not to bother with the kiosk as they're having to reissue so many tix it's not worth it to try. She said she can only imagine what ORD is like this morning. I had already called to have my ticket reissued so I was easy.. checked a bag and off I went.

Maybe in EWR they'll move 1K to the GS area. One can hope anyway...

Same here for a CLE-ORD-LHR flight on Sunday. Scared too since I was hoping to spend time w/ my family and arrive at CLE an hour before flight (already checked in of course) as I am not checking bags...

Will try later tonight but suspect they will make me show my travel docs and not let me check in online.

If there is a stand alone kiosk not near the gate area (they have them in Newark) you can check in there. You'll just have to swipe your passport.

Two more items....

My PMUA reservations all contained my full middle name but only middle initial migrated over and the reason I used my full middle name was to have it match to both my D/L and my passport under secure flight and to keep the "genius TSO's" ;) who check your i/d happy.

My primary phone number under PMUA was my cell phone which was automatically recognized when I called the 1k reservations line but now it recognizes my home phone instead of my cell even tho my cell is listed as my primary number on the new website

What a day

Well this has been a heck of a day and not done as I write this from the United Club in IAD. To recap, flying KBP to CMH via MUC and IAD. Issues began in MUC with a hand written boarding pass, which wasn't as painful as I was afraid it might have been. The LH/United staff were as efficient as they could be having to hand write a 777 full of boarding passes. :D

We were delayed due to late arriving aircraft and once we started boarding the fun began. There was an equipment change from the 3x3x3 config that was showed on .bomb to 2x5x2 config. This meant jumbled seats and my aisle E+ (21G) seat was given to a mother traveling with an infant meaning I was bumped to 17D (middle E+ seat) Not what I wanted for a 9.5 hour flight. FA said there was nothing that could be done. :td:

After 2 hours of sitting on the tarmac due to "paperwork" delays and then false start to board two more pax, we took off. FAs were offering a single free alcoholic drink in Y but I don't drink when I fly so that was useless to me. We eventually arrived 2 hours late and I had a glimmer of a hope to catch my connection home but the ground crew in IAD managed to destroy that hope.

Now rebooked in "oversold" status on last flight that is weight restricted. Can't get a boarding pass due to this but that took a GA 5+ mins to sort out under SHARES. Good news for United, they had a lot of extra staff and what I am guessing were CO people teamed with UA staff to assist with the new command structure.

All that said, where do I direct an web bsed fedback about all of this in the new world? Poked around the new site but nothing jumped out to me. Hope other travelers have a better day than I did.

Terrific

It's working fine now & everything is in order

Not sure why they had to change the record locator

They also give you the chance to REopt out of all the trash

CAL gone but not forgotten

Still no answer at Premier Gold reservations

Earlier today I described a problem. I have a United flight tomorrow from Denver to Chicago. The web site will not permit me to check in or print a boarding pass. Says I need to call reservations.

Whatever the problem is, I don't want to postpone it until tomorrow when I am at the airport and maybe it will be too late to fix whatever the problem is.

So I rang up Premier Gold reservations. It has now been two hours and forty minutes, and still no human being has answered the phone. I have been listening to music on hold for two hours and forty minutes.

Amazingly, I just called the 1K line, waited 1 minute (!), got a Continental agent (see below), and with 10 min on hold, my Monday reservation was re-synched.

Asked about my luck with the short queue, she said it might not be balancing between UA and CO agent pools correctly... if you end up on the CO side, it goes quickly (presumably because they are much more familiar with SHARES), the UA side you end up in a giant queue. Take that FWIW. No way to verify.

I'm in the same boat. 6am flight out of BWI tomorrow (4th) with the inbound coming in from a very delayed and weather affected Chicago. I received the email this morning advising me to check in but wasn't able to. Despite 30+ attempts over 12 hours. The itin was showing but with the caveat of "reservation refunded" not something i did. Most certainly a transfer glitch. No luck with the call center as holding for hours isn't a sport i play.

Was able to get in and print BP just now, 11 hours prior to departure.

Wondering how FUN it will be at the airport tomorrow and how early i should arrive. The SFO posts coming in this evening are NOT promising.

Do both CO and UA elite phone numbers still work? Which should be used going forward?

pdx1M Mar 3, 2012 5:17 pm

I have one itiinery (far future so I'll wait for the rush to die down) with the upgrade induced mis-sync problem. However, I noticed it only when I actually looked into the details of the record on the UA site. It seems to me that it would be a lot more user friendly to have some indication of issues with the record appear on the manage reservations summary page - instead of saying "This reservation has been ticketed and confirmed." it should give some error message there where you see it immediately. As it stands I have to actually open each itineray detail to see if it is ok. Poor.

Mileage Plus Contact Form not functioning

In trying to contact mileage plus using the new contact form on United.com, The only applicable option for my level is "Premier Platinum". But when I select this from the drop down menu, and try to submit my issue to mileage plus, I get an error message and it will not let me get past this message:

"The membership level associated to your MileagePlus number is Premier 1K"

But this option is not one of the options in the drop down menu!!!!!! UGH

Thank you for sharing your experiences. There are two items we're looking into:
  1. Changed/missing seat assignments
If you run into either of these scenarios (or others), any details you'd like to share are appreciated. You’re welcome to post them here or send them to us via PM.

Shannon

Seat assignments for flight on CO metal (LAX-EWR-LAX on 15 Mar) booked on united.com on 4 Feb no longer showing on the new united.com, although they were showing on continental.com before today's cutover. :(

Shannon, I sent a PM to you on this.

Is there a quick link somewhere to the new SHARES codes that are equivalent to the old United award and upgrade codes?

Updated: Never mind. Just found the answer from a previous post by Shannon (thanks!):

  • R = Upgrade awards for and 2-cabin aircraft and BusinessFirst/United Business on 3-cabin aircraft
  • ON = Upgrade awards for Global First and United First on 3-cabin aircraft
  • X/XN = Saver Awards for United Economy (XN for Premier members)
  • I/IN = Saver Awards for United Business, BusinessFirst, United First on 2-cabin aircraft (IN for Premier Platinum and above)
  • O = Saver Awards for Global First and United First on 3-cabin aircraft
