Wiki note about the forum’s several, active “Channel 9” threads.
Offering live ATC communications on UA flights on Channel 9 of the audio entertainment system (“Channel 9”) is exclusive to United and offered at the Captain’s discretion. This forum has four prime, active threads about Channel 9. This note will guide you to the right thread for your post, or to where you would look for those channel 9 posts you’re interested in.
1) This thread to discuss United’s progress in converting legacy Continental aircraft and now PDE equipped aircraft to offer Channel 9
2) For discussion on issues and availability on Channel 9 equipped aircraft, see Consolidated "Channel 9 Availability" Discussion Thread [Merged]
3) A thread, to discuss interesting things heard on Channel 9, such as interesting exchanges between pilots and controllers or asking about pilot-controller phraseology. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/unite...ad-merged.html

Anyone get channel 9 on a reconfigured CO or PDE aircraft yet?

That's how I see it as well when I stated that we have gained some and lost some along the way. While I am as disappointed as nextguy at the at the loss of Ch 9 in Airbus fleet (along with gutting of what is the most comfortable Y seat in the UA fleet with the introduction of the ghastly slimline seats), this is a small "win" and worth celebrating.

If you're talking about it going away in Y, then I'm happy to see it go in exchange for AVOD ^. The 747 Y experience is the worst in the fleet.

As I posted in the main Channel 9 availability thread, I recently experienced Channel 9 on a reconfigured 764. The flight attendants, however, did not believe that the aircraft was equipped with Channel 9, and they doubted my claim otherwise until they asked the captain.

I enoyed Channel 9 on a domestic MR (IAD-PHL) on June 7. On disembarking, I made it a point to thank the captain for letting us listen to the busy traffic in the Tulsa-Nashville-DC-greater NYC area!!

I have been told by many pmCO FAs that channel 9 only exists on jetblue. And that Continental is still continental despite the name change!

Channel 9 on UA 737 fleet
Does anyone know if Channel 9 ATC has been installed on any of the UA 737's? I was told it would be but I have not found it yet on any of my flights. I am very disappointed that they are taking it off the 320's and 319's.

Can anyone confirm that there is Ch 9 installed on some sCO 777s? A few people mentioned they have heard CH 9 while on the map but was not sure if this was fleet wide, a few tails, or a sUA swap on that particular day. I was on PEK-EWR yesterday (2 class 777) and could not find any button for CH 9 on the IFE and probably was not wearing headphones long enough on the map page to hear anything so gave up. Is there a way to check the tail number used yesterday vs known fleet upgrades? Very curious...
Thanks!
Thanks!

Thanks for the info. Probably better it did not have CH 9 else I probably would not have managed the 7 hours of sleep that I got. I quite enjoyed the J seat. As someone with rather wide shoulders I found it noticeably more comfortable than the 764 flavor of DL BE (and it sounds like the sUA seats as well).

one yes, one no
I hope you are incorrect. On Nov 18, I enjoyed CH 9 on UA 849 SJC-DEN. Great chatter with following towers - OAK, SLC, & DEN. I made a point of thanking the pilot! My next flight - UA 405 - was also on a 757 but the pilot did not activate CH 9.Why?
