Ok... my rant is over! Congrats on getting to 1k!
I don't know...I think I'd be happy to fly many more segments on shorter flights. My company doesn't pay for anything but economy seats, and 14-16 hours in an economy seat going cross-Pacific is no picnic.

Well, all my flights have been for work, not leisure. And I just can't plan a business trip without my boss' consent. Besides that, my wife wouldn't be too happy with me spending money just to get a certain status.

+1. you've set a new standard for yourself...you're going to look for and seize every opportunity to stay at that threshold going forward. good thing you're a part of Flyertalk.

I also don't do pure mileage runs, but for 2800 miles I would be taking her for a weekend somewhere.

Hmm--my CO and UA FF accounts have been merged for some time, but I just noticed when I log in to my UA account it is still just showing me as 1P, not as 1K. How long does the status match usually take?

From what I have read it has been taking up to 10 days to clear. I sure hope that is not the case!

If your like me... My guess is you are checking every hour on the hour in hopes of seeing the black bar on the UA website .

It took more than a month after linking for the status match to GS to show up on my UA account. The Web site doesn't look any different, just the words "Global Services" in the upper right hand corner and a reference to the 97,000 miles I need to requalify for 1K (I only credited one flight to MP this year.)

Flyer Talk Affairs?

I can understand your desire to escape from Phiily and take ATF's wife for a weekend somewhere. But would she want to go with you on such a short trip even if it is just for a weekend?

Is $1200 a good price for 9668 EQM's

I'm 6117 miles short of 100K. I'm logging in now for flight and they are offering 9668 miles with Elite Maximizer for $1200.

Couple of questions:

Confirm that Elite Maximizer miles count to go from Platinum to 100K ?
Is 9668 (all I care about is 6117), so is 6117 for $1200 a good deal - I have time for <only> 3 days in Dec that I could do a MR?
Is there really much benefit to being 1K over Platinum anyway?

Thanks, T.

No. Find a RT EWR-SFO, and double Elite Maximizer. It will be $900.

Or fly it. Probably get it for under $400, and buy the rest on EM. Or do the JFK-SFO-TUS route, and get it all done in a day.

Worth every penny, SWUs, 100% earnings, highest upgrade availability, and no fees.

for 2011 (and therefore 2012 status) yes -- for 2012 it is an open question but one would suspect if offered in 2012, it will not have the FEQM limitations.

Congratulations!

So it looks like your first incentive is international upgrade with SWUs. Good luck with that, really. If you go for 1K because of UDU, the new United will do every bit they could to take you out of the F cabin.
