Amazing that three weeks ago, living with someone positive didn't result in me positive, but work did now!

Daily data:
Cases 62,399 (78,317 last Sunday)
Deaths 85 (75)
People vaccinated up to and including 29 January 2022:
First dose: 52,331,601
Second dose: 48,385,074
Booster: 37,263,317
The rolling seven day daily average for cases is now down 6.5% on the previous week and the same measure for deaths is down 1.9%. The rolling 7 day daily average for deaths is 262.4 today. Scotland and NI are AWOL for cases today. That accounts for around 6.5k of the fall in cases but English numbers have a worthwhile drop compared with last week.

The oddest thing is that I had the worst symptoms (which were still not too bad - thank god for the vaccine) on Thursday and Friday, and I tested negative both days. Today I test positive yet I am nearly 100% again.
None of the traditional symptoms. First, muscle aches, then a sore throat and a very sore belly. Slight cough for half a day.

My partner - who tested positive a month now (likely Delta?) - has the same symptoms as me now, stuffy nose and sore throat. Obviously this could be a cold, so I was tempted to book him a PCR. What is the advice/guidance here? After only a month there is a high chance it would be a false PCR positive I guess? Should we stick to LFDs?

Interesting, thank you. What about it makes you think BA.2 vs BA.1?

Daughter's flatmate tested negative this morning, felt feverish/crummy and came home early and got a faint positive. The other two girls are attempting to distance and both tested negative. Will continue to test daily. All three of them have less than 4 weeks to complete their MChem research and are a bit anxious about missing lab time, so if it rips through the flat I hope it does so quickly.

There is a delay to today's data because from now on re-infection cases will be included. Any re-infections were excluded before. It is therefore likely that today's case data will show a big jump. It will make comparing with previous days difficult for the next few weeks. I will add it here when available.
