Some of the newspapers today are reporting that all COVID restrictions will be removed on the 26th of this month. According to The Times that includes all travel testing for the vaccinated. It does not mention the future of PLF however.

If you get rid of the restrictions, especially the day 2 test, it really serves no purpose. I hope they bin it.

I imagine the PLF will stay, to deal with the unvaccinated traveller.

It is for you and I and most FT'ers, just a nuisance but if you read tripadvisor many people struggle with it, saying it takes them 2 hours to do for the family, then they insist on printing it out!

That's already the case. If the 8% unvaccinated had come forward then there would be very few people in ICU (under 150 compared to 770) and hospital admissions would be about 500-1000 lower than the current 2500. The most plausible reason for the current restrictions is to protect the NHS from the risk of being overwhelmed. But submitting a PLF is a doddle luckily.

The PLF could be massively simplified, if its sole purpose would be to trace unvaccinated travellers. If we can do (have done?) away with the concept of the red list, that should remove a lot of the PLF's input.
etc. etc. |

BA is now flying private flights to the US...Probably multiple reasons for this...There is probably no need to book J in January, you can fly privately in economy...

England cases have fallen by just over 8k against yesterdays figure and are about half what they were 8 days ago. |
