Would it be safe to meet someone who is on 'freedom day' today? They started with symptoms last Saturday, so I think today works out as freedom day, but I know that with Delta, you can be infectious quite toward the end of it...

There would be a high percentage chance they were no longer infectious. Something like 95% or so. That still gives 5% but that tail can be rather slow to get to say 0.1%. It depends a bit what you had in mind, in terms of what you were doing with your friend, and to veer away from the TMI area, clearly being outside and keeping a distance is fine, along with mask wearing. Indoors, close up and maskless would be risky if they are in the 5% territory. Usually it's not just the 5%, the viral load should be lower at that point so this is where social distancing really does help, there will be fewer viral particles that go aerosol, and they shouldn't be coughing by that stage.

I wonder if we’re going to keep having these regular flactuations or cases around the 40k/day.

Are UK gov implementing quarantine prisons again?

Novotel Heathrow T123 cancelled my booking for next week and closed from Sat 13th Nov as the hotel “will be part of Home Office facility from 13th Nov and beyond.”

The M4 Novotel and nearby Mercure are also closed. These were previously quarantine prisons too. I called the hotel today and they said they couldn’t disclose any further info.

I got the email this morning cancelling my reservation for Dec. Home Office was the reason I was given.

Fortunately i was able to get a new res two doors up at the Ibis Styles. This is good since its even closer the 3 Magpies where I had planned to spend a couple of hours getting in the holiday mood.

HGOLI Nov 21, 2021 11:15 am

Aren't the quarantine hotels ref travel/covid under the responsibility of the DHSC, and Home Office deals with asylum accommodation, such as hotels?

OT but go to the Pheasant and not to the Magpies. White Horse at a push, but the only place worth eating something at on the entire Bath Road is Prya’s for the somosas.
