Of course keep in mind nobody from the rest of the UK is allowed into Wales or Scotland.
"People who live outside Wales can still travel through Wales if they have a reasonable excuse to do so." " travelling to move home, or other related activity, is a reasonable excuse to enter Wales." "Travelling in and out of Wales is not allowed unless you have a reasonable excuse. Where necessary travelling to a workplace in Wales is a reasonable excuse to enter Wales under the rules." "People travelling to Wales from elsewhere in the UK or from abroad must have a reasonable excuse to enter and remain in Wales and must follow all relevant regulations in force in Wales, as explained in this guidance." "However, there are some circumstances in which you may have a reasonable excuse to visit people outside Wales – for example if you have caring responsibilities, you have entered an extended household with them, or you have compassionate grounds for going to see them." |
I think it is true to say legally free movement has been halted from the rest of the UK in to Wales or Scotland, and from Wales or Scotland in to the rest of the UK. There are some narrow exceptions. All covered in the posts linked to in the wiki.

Advice Needed Desperately!
Dear UK Flyertalkers,
I’m not sure if it’s appropriate to post in this chain, or to create a new one - mods please move this where you feel it belongs! My son has applied to boarding schools in the UK, and remarkably, he has been accepted. But we have to figure out how to visit these schools sometime soon to see if one of them is the right fit - of course it couldn’t be a worse time to visit the UK coming from Los Angeles, California! The soonest we can come is right after the New Year. But will it be a 14 day quarantine or a 7 day quarantine by then? And reading all your posts here, it doesn’t sound as if one is allowed to drive from place to place at this point anyway? We need to visit schools in Herts, Surrey and Worcestershire. How can I plan something like this? Is it even possible? Any advice would be so greatly appreciated! |
I expect it would still be 14 days self isolation from the US, although there is an opportunity to reduced this to 5 days if you take a PCR test on day 5 and get a negative result - there is some commentary on this on the main thread from post 4773 onwards https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/coro...ivals-319.html
Whilst in self isolation there are some narrow exemptions which do allow you to leave from your place self isolation, but I can't see that travelling to look at schools would fit any of them, so any school visits would have to be done once you have finished self isolation. However, once you have finished self isolation, I don't see any issue with you driving to look at schools in that area - albeit I am assuming the rules coming in to effect from 3 December are going to be the ones in force in January. |
One week after coming out of the previous lockdown, Northern Ireland entered a two-week circuit breaker from 27 November until 11 December.

So London is tier 2? I might spend the night there when I arrive into LHR on the 21st before I head to my moms in Kent. T2 means pubs and retail are open?
