Most of the PCR tests in France are around 55 euros without a referral (and free if you are a local with social security). The antigen tests range from 12 to ~30 euros. I don't know how much is subsidised though. But when I see PCR tests north of 100 pounds, or even a Lamp test from Collinson for 99 pounds for test to release it makes me a bit angry.

So for Amber do you think it will be exactly the same as now £210 each for the day 2 and day 8 tests? Or are they just PCR and they might allow LFTs now too, sorry not been following the current requirements as not travelled since last year.

The story today in the DM suggested LFDs would be allowed which should be more affordable - sub £10. Have a look around post 3303.

OK thought you might be, but thought that there might be a post from you about 10pm tonight? Not keen on the 10 day quarantine for Amber countries i.e. most of Europe, think lots of Ryanair, TUI customers will be cancelling soon. Mind you i read a few days it might only be a 3 day quarantine so who knows?

But we still lock people in hotels for 10 days?
It’s not really like we are tracking where people are going, we would be checking people are quarantining when they are meant to. I’d certainly take this over an expensive quarantine hotel and certainly take it over not being allowed to go at all. If the alternative is forced hotel...? For very few travellers hotel. Most people have to 'self-isolate' at home |

Some details are still being worked on, and I doubt you will be entirely happy, but I would suggest that you have your fluttering eyelashes to thank here. And I'll be in bed by 10 pm!

OK thanks so it sounds like maybe 1 jab might help as I won't have my 2nd by 17th May? Unless of course you mean those with 2 jabs will be less restricted so later in the summer this will help. Is there a press conference tomorrow? Not before Line of Duty!
Hi, The PM will make an announcement but whether it will actually specify all the countries with potentially lower restrictions to be applied at this time is probably unlikely ( I am personally hoping to be allowed to travel somewhere overseas in August- I feel May is going to be too early for the majority of countries) Hopefully details tomorrow. The Times is saying every UK resident will be asked to do a rapid test twice a week (not compulsory?) That should get the testing number right up!
|
Saw on the news that people returning to the U.K. from green countries will still need 3 tests, 72hrs before, 2 days after arrival and 8 days after.
|
If people have to test three times when travelling to green countries, what makes them green countries? Also, the need for testing before returning to the UK is risky because of the chances of testing positive while away on holiday and needing to isolate for 2 weeks in a foreign country. I would imagine that risk will put off a significant number of people from going anywhere.

Why bother allowing travel to open up if they're going to do that?
