I just checked the seating chart of my flight on expert flyer, and the seats I requested are occupied. Check that first?

Good call - mine are occupied as well. Does anybody have any experience in 1J/1K on a 77W?

Anyone have any tips for the best pair of seats in business on the A340?

I recall once reading in a trip report that there is a lot of light in the front of the cabin from the galley. Anyone with any experience?

To reiterate what was previously said... THY allows seat assignments 100 / 7 days prior to travel (800-874-887) and the reservation agent will give you the exact dates when you should call to request for seats.

from my experience:
JFK to/from IST (100 days)
IST to/from ISB (7 days)

Coworker flying LAX to Istanbul - cant get seat assignment 2 mths prior?

A travel agent booked the flight, and now she says she cant get seat assignments online

All US carriers allow you to do that.

Turkish doesn't?

doesn't sound right to me

You'll have to call them to reserve the seats. Seat selection is only available online at booking >T-100 or when checking in, otherwise it has to be done over phone.

Is it possible to view my seat selection through manage my booking?

I called the -800 #, reserved the seats, but was hoping to view online to double check.

The only way is to check your seat is on ExpertFlyer.

If you make a reservation through a third party (e.g., a travel agent), you are likely to obtain two PNRs: one which is TK-internal, and one which works on Amadeus, with which you can see your seat selection (e.g., on checkmytrip.com).

Reservations made on TK's web site only have the former.

Seat map for TK 1985 IST-LHR

I recently booked an award reservation through UA from IST-LHR on 1985, which is the 773 wet lease. EF shows an A321 seating chart for that date/flight, and I did some other spot checking and it looks like the seating chart shows 773 for Apr 23-May 7 or so. Any explanation? Perhaps they are slow to update their seating charts online? I haven't called yet to select my seat.

You're welcome. I look forward to seeing your report. Will be interesting to hear your opinions on TK and how their Do&Co catering compares to that on Austrian :)

. 7 days before domestic/ Europe flight. You can only select seats by calling TK´s Call Center 100 days before long haul flight, 7 days before short haul flight.

Should wiki be updated to reflect Europe flights instead of domestic (which could be read as Turkey only)?

Yes, please. The -7 day timeline applies to all short-haul flights not just domestic within Turkey. I've just tried for IST-ZRH and was told it's 7 days for this route, too.

Done - I'm not a regular TK flyer, so if someone else wants to refine the changes I just made, please have at it.
